As an originator of the name Writtenology, that first 45 seconds was a real rollercoaster of emotions
Great stuff. Stephenson's novels reveal that he thinks the Judge was the protagonist of Blood Meridian the same way many people think Rorschach was the protagonist of Watchmen.
Honest question: why isn't Rorschach Watchmen's protagonist? I fully agree he's not a role model, but still, we mostly experience the story through his perspective, his actions definitely contribute to moving the story forward, and he does go through a character arc of sorts — which ends with him asking for death, because he can't handle the truth of what he learned.
This episode, to me, is the first in the series where I think they've found their stride. Great topic. I felt like the first two were a bit above my head
Ah yes, Rittenology; the study of Kyle Rittenhouse.
"writtenology" oof. Yeah. Much better. ashamed of myself for not coming up with it.
Read something by hans hermann hoppe so you can get the same kind of aneurism that i got
I did the 'cut it' hand gesture when Mr. Slobodian said Hakim Bey and teenagers in the same sentence.
Outstanding! Love Quinn Slobodian. Please consider adding Adam Tooze to the list of invited guests. And Mark Blyth.
seconding Tooze

Thank you Trashfuture for being with me in the darkness!
"being with me in the darkness" ... That's kind of what Chapo was for me during Trumptasrophe 2017-2021. Their relevance has declined substantially since, they are much less engaged and distracted, and often just phoning it in. Matt & Chris have nice side projects, and CushVlog. And I miss Amber (last on Nov. 2021) and now she is finally shown as departed from cast. CTH has been on the decline for 2+ years but still rakes in a big Patreon haul.
I've noticed a sharp drop off in the number of conservatives praising Original Hong Kong.
writtenology is great haha
Writtenology: The Brane Zone
I preferred The Brane Zone. Writtenology does sound too derivative, sorry.
