Automobile Conversation Part 2 of 2 ft. Victoria Scott
This week, we're joined by auto journalist Victoria Scott (@mikurubaeahina) about new developments in automotive surveillance. As in: what if your car was the cops, recorded everything you ever did in the car, was accessible by the other cops via forensic devices, could be monitored without a warrant, and had no option for you to shut this off? Well, apparently that's 90% of cars made since 2008 already.

Victoria has managed to make me feel better about my aging Korean econo box car lol. 2011 but because it was cheap and outdated when new it doesn't have an infotainment system.
have you seen Doug DeMuro's review of his cameraman's 2003 Kia Spectra? I think that vid was so good it got me into like counterculture auto journalism
Hell yeah an Oregon State university shout out on the pod
Loved hearing Victoria on again, even though her info freaked me out.
"you could deploy autonomous cars today IF you limited where they went and what part of the city they can operate in, kept them under 25 miles an hour at all times, created their own lanes for them entirely, and only deployed them on good weather days" so point by point less good than a bicycle
Jamie Oliver is not a tervert AS FAR AS WE KNOW...
I've been reading Charles Stross's Empire Games trilogy. The characters have to airgap suspect electronics by using them in a parallel universe. Hope we are not heading that way.
this is the Justin Rozcniak Corollary: cars are banning themselves
So instead of making the car more rigid they made it more fascist. Truly we live in the darkest time-line
So does Victoria have a piece on this? She referenced some writing and research she's done but I can't tell if she's still working on it or has it been published?
I think she mentioned that it's coming soon. Should be up on The Drive? https://www.thedrive.com/author/victoria-scott
Getting racked off by a yute.
Oh hype it's Victoria
always knew my policy of not buying a car newer than 2010 (mostly for "Too Many Effing COMPUTERS" mechaniching reasons) was the superior line amazing guest, thanks Victoria
