Hearing about the origins of Web 2.0 as a mid-tier marketing term reminds me of how they made a new Vegemite, in late 2000s Aus, and the result of a public campaign to find the new name was “iSnack 2.0” Shit you not mate
I didn't realize Riley invented Web 2.0 but it explains a lot now.
Love when the guest just effortlessly owns the entire podcast 😂.

Thank you for doing an episode about me
Ugh it’s always one of these other bastards
Tim Heidecker is selling Bored Horse x Beatles NFTs - maybe have him on to sell, sell, sell 🐴 💎
The "trading cards for songs" part, describing nft's hit me. I've been wondering for the last month how much influence Steam trading cards,or TF2 Hats had on the brains of the crypto guys. Aren't TF2 hats the UR-Crypto market? Something which has no value, but made artificially scarce. And Good ol Gabe told everybody that exchanging garbage bits for ludicrous prices is great?
With regards to how the album-art NFT thing got access to Spotify's API, the Spotify API is publicly available: https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/web-api/ Scraping Spotify would only be difficult insofar as you'd need to deal with rate-limiting, and that would just slow you down. If you implement that from a lazy-loading standpoint (that is to say, until someone looks for a specific NFT, you don't harvest information on the related album), that probably isn't even an issue.
