Red Jawn feat. Well There's Your Problem

Quaid... start the podcast and save Mars...

Justin, Liam, and our very own Alice of Well There’s Your Problem Podcast (on Youtube!) are here to discuss Elon Musk's ludicrous plan to put humanity on spaceships with pizza restaurants in them and ship them off to Mars to live in large greenhouses for reasons of... well... Mars. Where else in the solar system are you going to live? Anyway, like most big stupid tech things - it's a fun story to distract you while SpaceX becomes a (sigh) privatiser of public goods through government contracting. Plus ca change.

06:20: 35% of human-driven methane emissions on earth come from fossil fuel extraction and some studies suggest that proportion is much higher, so Milo is not wrong here. Methane is a product of the breakdown of organic matter and it is considered a fossil fuel. … https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-40671-6

One thing they didn't get a chance to bring up in the discussion of the Musk pedophile lawsuit is that a large part of the reason Elon won is due to the diver's lawyer being an insane QAnon guy.

This is just Bioshock! Just straight up Bioshock! The Mars colony will end with Elon Musk’s clone bludgeoning him with a rigid submersible

It’s the year 2035 and the population of Mars is starving after King of Mars, Elon Musk, declared all hydroponics must be used to grow dank weed.

the legacy of how terrible the space shuttle was has set back nasa and the american civilian space sector back at least 150 years. I hate elon musk as much as anyone else but nasa is probably saving money by giving him contracts instead of shoveling billions of dollars into boeing so that they can give every congressional district a job building rockets that have a LOE capacity comparable to a handful of german V-1s duct taped together

You say that but private industry is always, always, always a degree removed from regulation and oversight compared to the public sector. Better to have it under control of nominally democratic systems than some insane emerald mining magnate

We already have a clear blueprint for a Martian governance system, as set out by Sealab 2021 a couple decades ago.

Wait is placing a gun on a space station make it a technical?

Depends whether it's a crew-serve or not. Also unclear whether passive orbit is OK. Might have to be burning/moving under power.

Something that really strikes me is Andrew describing putting things directly into people's mailboxes. This is extremely illegal to do in America if you don't work for the Post Office, and that was drilled into me deeply in me as an Evangelical Christian and again as a Bernie canvasser. Haven't gotten to the Bones episode yet, but good content so far.

Glad I managed to get some likes on this comment that was obviously posted under the wrong episode. Good community here
