RIP Grokipedia (2025-2026) feat. Molly White

Molly is back again, this time to talk about the right's war on Wikipedia—we show how Grokipedia was actually born of grievances fomented in two reports baselessly alleging liberal bias at Wikipedia, and died because Elon got distracted. Also, we uncover a general principle: right wing grievance mongering projects fail because these are fundamentally lazy people.

Phil DeFranco recently talked about how he bought the Meta glasses early on because he DID like the idea of being able to film experiences with his kids without sort of "ruining the moment" by holding a camera but now he doesn't wanna use them because he realized they're pervert glasses and he also doesn't wanna sell them because they're pervert glasses and he doesn't wanna sell them to a pervert.

I googled a very niche bit of math once while I was doing research for a project. I clicked on the second result without realizing that it was actually Grokipedia... and only noticed once I started reading and realized it was all extremely incorrect.

The only good use I saw of nonce glasses was for getting an first person view of driving a supercar round a track

I have a Grokipedia bio article and it’s very long, not easy to read and it also very repetitive. It does also smooth-over my bio to the extent it sounds likely but it is not actually accurate—sequential events are presented as cause and effect, things like that.

I regret to inform you, Jimmy Wales is not the good Wikipedia founder in relation to whining about left wing bias. He got on his prominent status soapbox a little while back to complain about how there was a page for the Gaza genocide. Amusingly Larry Sanger is actually banned from editing Wikipedia because he was canvassing for a cause off site

”Just imagine Trump explaining Wikipedia”. There was a prompt for an all time Milo riff. Miss that boy.

Blue labour is so funny they reinvented classical fascism by accident from the starting point of a like edgy new atheist type lib who's been corrected on someone's pronouns one too many times

What if we did nominal populist "pro-worker" rhetoric but substituted class war for masculinism, economic nationalism, and scaremongering about feckless, sinister cosmopolitans while carving out a space for a respectable, entrepreneurial "national capital". Thats crazy man. Who's ever thought of that idea

According to Grokipedia, November Kelly is able to shoot down the International Space Station unassisted

t
trev · August 28, 2026

Whereas more accurate sources understand that certain... materials... are required to facilitate the launch process. So it wouldn't really qualify as unassisted.

I'm imagining her at the tattoo parlour, vaguely guesturing at an example on the wall and saying 'that one and a few others, just whatever makes sense', and then repeatedly asking the artist how long they'd been working there while they were inking her...

All glasses can be pervert glasses if you wear them the right way.

2000s: Wikipedia has liberal Democrat Party bias, we need a patriotic conservative alternative that supports our great President George W. Bush 2020s: Wikipedia is Woke and antisemitic (not that we have a problem with that, it’s acknowledging the existence of Palestinians that’s the issue), we need our Based AI version to bypass the Cathedral and give our great ideas a fair hearing, like Race Realism

G
George Toner · August 28, 2026

Maybe it's just because I've been hanging out with more English teachers and Librarians lately, but I'm increasingly of the opinion that all three were right - while there are some kids who will categorically refuse to read on principle, even if they really want to, there are many more who want to read something they're interested in and can't Sour grapes. My brother-in-law didn't even notice his daughter was interested in Space and wouldn't buy a book about it because 'she doesn't like to read'. Read about Space? Uh, no, like, princesses and magic and stuff, he got those and she didn't read them she just watches videos. Videos about princesses and magic and stuff? Uh, no, videos about Space *facepalm*

I recently had a pair of pirate replica Ray-Bans handed down from my partner after he bought a new pair of sunglasses of his own, and the thought has absolutely struck me that they could be mistaken for pervert glasses. Realistically I of course don't really think random people I pass by on the street consciously register enough about me to even be able to draw that conclusion, nor does it really matter if they did unless it's a direct interaction where you'd be able to easily resolve that misunderstanding. But that nagging feeling does persist in the back of my mind. Maybe I should hope for that to be a real and common problem, it'd be the kind of nightmare PR that could push them into terminating the partnership and utterly humiliating Zuckerberg, lol
