Breakfast and wine update runs 4:08 to 12:00. Congrats Riley, you did manage to keep it short by Boney Island standards. I'm a devoted Boney Islander, spent hours in a dark room at work hearing about the orange mug. I will say that back then if the breakfast update ran long the episode just ran long too, and it was often well over an hour. So now that Riley has limited time I definitely appreciate just limiting breakfast updates to match.

So during the breakfast segment I wanted to leave a comment about how this episode brought me back to my younger days of listening to Good Morning America where it was the hosts talking personal stuff, and then we got to having your pussy eaten by a psychologist? from Bones, so that made it a bit different. Great stuff either way, my kind of talk radio.

Riley please could you share your thoughts on the new(ish) pact coffee pouches that they introduced a year or so ago. I want to hear if you too hate them vehemently. They ruin my morning whenever I have a new coffee delivery. The tear lines never tear correctly and because it's plastic I can't just tear through it hulk style I have to use scissors and I don't want to use scissors I shouldn't have to, it's my God-given right to NOT use scissors to open my coffee pouch and their previous design never needed them, you could just tear them. I would appreciate your thoughts because I've not met someone who also buys from Pact and I feel insane that nobody is complaining about this downgrade in their product, it ruins my morning, it ruins my coffee and when you name dropped Pact my frustration over the new pouch design ruined my listening experience.

Heard y'all was talkin shit about them Gilmore Girls, and I will not stand for it! I think it's a decent show, with likeable characters (although if you only ever catch snippets I can see why you might think otherwise) and shows complicated, messy, interpersonal relationships in a way that a soulless cop procedural like Bones/Criminal Minds couldn't even dream of. It's self aware in its WASPy tweeness (pumpkin festivals, basket-giving ceremonies, things of this nature) - it's intentionally low stakes, in an idealised setting, making it great deliberate feel-good escapism. I also think Lorelai and Rory's situation as an actively dating, permissive single mum who's best friends with her daughter is reasonably progressive for the time, especially compared to the post-9/11, Patriot Act, cookie-cutter copaganda being pooped out contemporaneously. I also think it's more of a soap opera with comedic aesthetics rather than an outright sit-com, but potato potahto.
