Balthasar Speedboat: Finnish Hells Angels feat. Tom Ballard and Marjolein Robertson

It's all riffs and no theme, and this time it's featuring comedians Tom Ballard and Marjolein Robertson on the subject of: the Shetland Islands, Toronto nightlife, inviting spiders into your house, and an encounter with the Finnish Hells Angels.

Sorry, I'm new here but what makes a Balthazar Speedboat? How far should I go back to find out?

The point about the spiders is correct. Unless you have particularly deadly to human spiders where you live you want more spiders in your house because the more of them you see the less of the really annoying insect pests you will have. Support the spiders in the war against flies, gnats, misquotes and their ilk!

When I was a bike mechanic I worked with a guy who was in a Dutch Pushbike Biker gang, they genuinely exist

e
etienne · August 17, 2024

are they like bike messenger guys or it's a different vibe?

it’s been a while since I went to the Waitrose in Morningside but that review is hilarious and seems spot-on (including the academic publication record as proof of age)

I don't know why I lost it when Milo made that salt lick bit but holy shit I had trouble breathing.

the spiders thing is right. here we have kind of two types of spiders that show up in households, both not technically dangerous for humans, but arachnophobia. luckily, the less scary looking ones actually eat the scary looking ones so we just keep them around. spiders are good sometimes c:

P.S. Congrats on your coming nuptials, Riley. As is so often the case in England, the marriage laws are incredibly stupid. Try Scotland or the Channel Islands.

Is it really an episode of Balthasar Speedboat without the reverse theme song and the stilted introductions as an outro? I know Riley opened with a "so I like to use Google Maps" anecdote, but standards matter.

Purposely being vague about the details here for er legal reasons but I know someone who was given a honorary biker gang t shirt and engraved beer tankard for treating one of their members. They were invited to the clubhouse for a social but for probably quite obvious reasons didn’t go. The biker gang also warned them to not wear the t shirt in the local town incase they wondered into rival territory.

J
Jimjam · August 15, 2024

They were also very apologetic that they couldn’t give them a full colours shirt but that would require an initiation.

There is a streaming channel that plays all Heartland, all day long. I have a neighbor who I chill with on occasion, and he almost always has it on. They really are the most, family values milktoast series I have ever seen. In one epidode they're cabin got robbed, and the asshole father spent the whole time blaming a bunch of minority teens for it, even 'subtly" telling one of them who was invited by his daughter to dinner that hes a forgiving guy and 'someone' should just return it. Later a small child helps him find out that it was traveling Carnies and that the stolen stuff was at a recent pawn shop. When the owner tells him it was an old guy who sold him the stuff, he didn't believe him, sure it was the teens until proven otherwise. Then the episode without him taking any responsability for his actions, despite nearly driving the person he accused to leave the town. Dogshit show.

They also had another 'we were robbed' plotline, only this time it was done by a poacher looking for some information one of them had. really weird show.
