Surely Britain Can’t Be Serious

For this week’s bonus, it’s Riley, Hussein, and November discussing: Masayoshi Son’s desire to create AI God (actual), Labour’s march towards total alienation of everyone in hopes of governing from the void, a bizarre profile of Keir Starmer in which he seems to suggest he has never read a book, and a very strange encounter with Reform UK’s argument that any negative press it receives is because of…crisis actors?

EDINBURGH LIVE SHOW ALERT We're going to be live at Monkey Barrel comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe on August 14, and you can get tickets here:

Hussein interjecting with "Queer Starmer" nearly made me crash my car

I got goosebumps when Hussain referenced Death Note, the exact anime that makes trying to be an effective god look kinda uncool

It's so weird noticing the difference between how my country media portrays portrays Starmer vs how TF does. Thanks TF for keeping it interesting and sincere. Although the episode could've used more voice bits or milfs jokes. Milo, we miss you.

Jacob's Ladder was actually a movie about being Kier Starmer

Wes Streeting just gave the best profile of Starmer. Making a shipshape ship ship shipshape... election night gold.

Russia under Putin is the Masayoshi Son of political intrigue and espionage: they stumbled dick first into victory once and now everyone has to pretend like they are Varys the Spider.

It's a travesty that Milo wasn't present to do the Starmer voice for this.

I'm probably the last to say this but the son in masayoshi son is pronounced sown, not sawn

Left-hand column: Alas! The time comes when man will give birth to no more stars. Alas! The time of the most contemptible man is coming, who can no longer despise himself! Behold, the Last Man. 'What is love? What is creation? What is Longing? What is a star?'. Thus asks the Last Man and blinks. Right-hand column: I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a Body Without Organs I'm endless sea of grey, I'm incapable of shame...

Masayoshi Son doing a full-reverse JRPG and using the power of not spending time with friends to _create_ god

The labour candidate where I am is super transphobic. Imagine standing in Birmingham Ladywood and hating the Dolls?!!

S

We've been calling what Starmer's doing a small target strategy in Australian politics for decades except Starmer has taken it to a psychological extreme.

Whenever I saw the SoftBank logo in Japan where it's mostly just a phone service provider I felt like I was going insane. Now I've come back and have gotten used to it being a phone service provider, whenever I hear about the dumb shit their investment arm does I feel like if the boss of 3 Mobile was sitting on billions in investment funds and was publicly having an emotional breakdown and I also feel like I'm going insane.

Some of my older relatives have been campaigning for Labour and it has not felt good watching them spend their twilight stumping for people like Keith and Wes. Hopefully they can enjoy a Hosni Mubarak level result before the NHS gets even more privatised or whatever calamity awaits us with the Invisible Prime Minister.

cant we go back to the 90s with making a hive mind with the internet i prefer the human instrumentality project to an AI god

L

I'm completely serious this AI god shit's dumb I am partisan on this and I don't think the silicon valley dudes have the vision to make the HIP real

Honestly I'm scared of Reform, especially up here in the North. My fellow working class people falling for another tory toff with his magic beans is the last thing we fucking need.

I can’t believe Keir is so Eric Adams coded (allegedly not eating meat, def spotted eating meat in public)

D
Dave Clarke · July 4, 2024

"Alright Kier, this is just a softball interview, we're gonna try and make people like you. First question: do you prefer crunchy or smooth peanutbutter?" *unblinkingly* "No preference"

If aliens were to invade Earth and we had one shot to show them that is more trouble than it's worth, I would share an episode of trash future like this one. I want it to really sink in that much like AI, humanity will infect their society and make it for the worse.

This is sort of a Harry Turtledove series.
