I'm certain paying out this settlement didn't help THQ, but they truly died for many reasons, and not just because licensed games had become a boondoggle in both quality and sales. The biggest misstep, and one that proved fatal, was producing way, way too many uDraw tablets. The first attempt on Wii sold well, but then it flopped miserably when the product expanded to PS3/360. Per a investor report back in 2012, they had 1.4 million unsold uDraw units - producing revenue $100M less than expected. This led to a company-wide loss of $55.9M for that quarter.
