Deep into the New Generation, WWF decided to rage war on WCW and rename Monday Night Raw to RAW IS WAR! This is the very first episode, before we get to the Attitude Era later in the year. They have a new presentation, including new graphics and a brand new stage. WrestleMania 13 is a couple weeks away and Sid Vicious is WWF Champion. Before he defends his World Wrestling Federation Championship against The Undertaker, they team up to take on Vader and Mankind in the main event. Also, Paul Heyman and ECW are here for “The Great Debate” with Jerry “The King” Lawler. Stone Cold and Bret Hart prepare for their I Quit match at WrestleMania as Jim Ross interviews the special guest referee Ken Shamrock. Plus, The DEADLOCK Q&A returns!

Pedant chat, but... La Femme Nikita (or Nikita) started as a French action film directed by Luc Besson in 1990. It was remade several times in several countries, notably as Point of No Return with Bridget Fonda in 1993. The TV series itself, featuring Peta Wilson in the role, began in 1997 and ran until 2001. There was even another adaptation/reboot from 2010-13 featuring Maggie Q. All of this is more entertaining to research than this RAW, holy yikes. This RAW made me sad that WCW died.
Crazy that a week later raw would be in my hometown of syracuse, ny and I was there for that bret promo. Sadly the best promo of bret's career
My memory says 1997 RAW does get better but putting the War Zone aesthetic on the trash 1996 format was so much worse than I remembered.
