Limb work building to submission finishes doesnt really work with MMA getting more common knowledge. People now know submissions can work if the limb its targeting is perfectly fine. You dont need the guys leg to hurt for a heel hook to tap someone out. I would love to see someone build matches around finding different openings and ways to get to submissions like Kurt with the ankle lock.
Kurt and Nigel actually did that at Turning Point 09. Both guys work the leg the whole time and the finish is an armbar iirc

I hate to break kayfabe, but on the Art of Wrestling with Colt Cabana (Art of Wrestling Episode 35 Jimmy Rave), Jimmy Rave told Colt about how it was actually Samoa Joe who broke his jaw a few weeks before this match, but because he kept wrestling after the Joe match it just exacerbated the injury. Either way, this is an incredible match; Jimmy is the most underrated heel wrestler and Nigel's 2005-2008 run was godly
