We are two (2) days removed from one of WCW's most unique PPV events, Hog Wild 1996, and history was changed forever. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan defeated The Giant to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, before spray-painting the title with 'NWO', one of the most iconic looks for a championship ever.
This episode of WCW Monday Nitro took place on August 12th, 1996, and we're looking at the fall-out from that very PPV. The WCW management & wrestlers are all trying to figure out how to combat the trio of Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash & Scott Hall, while being aware of the threat of more members joining, as is teased by the members of the New World Order throughout the show.
Sting & Lex Luger, who had a controversial loss to The Outsiders at Hog Wild due to potential shenanigans involving referee Nick Patrick, call out Kevin Nash & Scott Hall for a match on this show.
Speaking of controversial losses, The Steiner Brothers are here for a return match against Harlem Heat, who beat them at Hog Wild in a Tag Team Championship match after some interference from bother Sister Sherri & Colonel Parker. Also in a return match, Rey Mysterio Jr defends the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against The Ultimate Dragon (not Ultimo!).
We also get a huge WCW United States Championship match, as Ric Flair takes on "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

Fun fact Madusa attacking the Japanese bike at Hog Wild did effectively zero damage to it. She was bashing the hell out of it with a sledgehammer and didn't even crack a side panel. In classic WCW manner no one thought to check if it was actually possible to destroy the bike with a sledgehammer.
Listening to this with a bruised rib that makes it hurt to laugh wasn’t the smartest choice but fuck it was worth it

Oddly, they don't use the nWo theme on this particular episode, but they did debut it at Hog Wild. The Outsiders used it first, then Hogan in the main event. Hogan used it at that point on till he switched to Voodoo Child.
