I just subscribed today and was overjoyed to find this in Watch This, one of my favourite matches of all time for how ludicrous the bumps Foley takes are. I watched this b2b with Nick Mondo vs Homeless Jimmy and it wasn't 1/10 as brutal as Mick getting thrown flat onto concrete, a shovel thrown at him, and then absolutely beaned in the head with said shovel.

The table breaking early, Foley falling 12-6 right onto the concrete, getting brained with a real snow shovel, and Jerry Saggs running the full length of the stage to brain Maxx Payne with half a table all in the span of two minutes is insane

gonna be honest, Foley's "Superdad" shirt reminded me of the existence of Noelle Foley, which caused me to not pay that much attention to this the first time through, boys

I have to imagine Foley called the finish on the fly. "Shit the table broke and it looked like shit uh... yeah throw me off the ramp straight onto concrete AND smash the shovel into my brain as hard as possible."

How is Mick Foley still alive?

For those who are interested, Mick Foley did a Watch-a-long of this match on his podcast a few years back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI-ckKCP6jA was surprised to find out Foley was fresh off of his match in Germany when this took place and not surprised at all to find out that it was Foley's idea to take the concert bump to the floor as an improvised spot when the Table broke.

I was waiting patiently for that reaction to the Foley bump, it was worth the wait 😂

That was the absolute funniest ending sequence of a wrestling match I've ever seen

That moment where the camera shakily zooms in on Jerry Saggs eating shit through the table in the background of the shot was Emmy-worthy comedic timing

saggs was on something else this match, the run towards the camera with a half of a table lifted over his head to brain maxx payne like a cartoon character and tony going AAAAAAAA fucking ended my shit- best finishing 2 minutes i've seen in a min

Funny story. According to Mick, after everyone returned backstage, Ric Flair bitched all four guys out for destroying the "integrity" of the sport. All I know is, as great as Flair and Steamboat was as the main event, this is the match that everyone remembers.
