DEADLOCK Watch This #235
A historic match that we feel like we've seen pieces of here and there, but haven't watched the full match!
We figured this is the best place to do it! We take it back to WCW in 1992 where Vader defends the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against a replacement opponent in Ron Simmons! The crowd is electric, they want to see someone kick Vader's ass, and Ron Simmons has a lot to battle against as he steps up to THE MASTODON.

dude the guy in the front row running in and doing the RVD split jump at the pin is amazing
God the fact that this isn't in better quality is criminal. The crowd gave me goosebumps and building a David vs goliath story in wrestling and having it be so powerful and effective is just insane. also fun fact he is the first ever African American world heavy weight champion from this match (others may have had championships before but this belt was like THE championship at the time and is way more of a big deal)and in Baltimore with the majority of the population being African American makes this so much cooler.
I remember WCW Main Event. Used to watch it and Saturday Night with my uncle. He was more of a WCW/NWA fan than WWF. Basically it was a second show on Sunday nights on TBS. Back in the era when TBS was mostly wrestling, Braves baseball, and Andy Griffith reruns.
Where did u guys find to watch this i cant find it on peacock
I think just YouTube? We couldn't find it on any streaming sites either.
Vader beat the FUCK out of Ron. I don't remember it being this stiff
A lot of respect to Big Ron but man Vader was just the best.
Tony was only 46 when this first aired
if u ever wanted to see someone die, watch any scott norton wcw main event match btw
man they don't make em like this anymore
God I fuckin love 92 WCW. Simmons was on fire that whole year, absolutely deserved the belt. He had some really fun matches with Cactus at SuperBrawl and Clash 20
WCW's best years were when it was by far its least profitable. All the best Flair feuds were at an all time low in ticket sales for them
The kid running down from the fourth row to the guardrail when Ron hits the powerslam will never not be the coolest thing in wrestling
Goldust Everywhere system skeewoah
I really need to see Japan run Vader
Have you seen the clip of him coming out to body Inoki and the riot starting because of it? That's like...the beginning of Vader's aura. It's must-see footage.
That Baltimore crowd was red hot from start to finish
(for more vader) there's a really underrated vader/dustin match from a 1994 clash of the champions thats like the last glimpse of what dustin could've been as a more major babyface, really good stuff with a lot more killer vader shit too
No one deserved a moment like that more than Ron Simmons! Few get that and he earned it! That kid running 4 rows down to see Simmons win up front and jump for joy is an all-time wrestling crowd moment!
I always just assumed old school wrestling would be boring to watch, but this shit kicks ass. The audience pops crazy for the fundamentals
The kid running down to the guardrail when Simmons hits the Powerslam always puts a big smile on my face
The story behind this is fun. This was supposed to be Vader vs. Sting. But Sting was laid out earlier in the TV taping by a debuting Jake The Snake Roberts fresh off his WWF run, leading to their feud. Simmons won a battle royal during thebtaping to get this shot, and the rest his history.
I’m so glad yall watched this! This is one of my favorite moments as a wrestling fan. Representation matters, and seeing Ron Simmons win the belt was everything to 13 year old me. Glad you guys are enjoying the classics. Old WCW was really a vibe 🙌🏾
So, I use to be an "old American wrestling sucks" kind of guy, but this match and the 1985 Jim Duggan match is turning me. I need to WATCH some more of THIS. Any dippers got some non-WWF recs?
Do yourself a favour and check out Ric Flair vs Terry Funk, I Quit at Clash of the Champions IX in 1989. The match and the build up are both great.
One of the greatest moments in wrestling history no exaggeration both for the MEAT and the historical significance, again LOVE THE BOYS WATCHIN OLD ASS SHIT
I remember asking to watch this one not too long ago so HELL YEAH glad we got to Watch This!
This is a legendary match in Baltimore I’m not evening joking. Old heads love this match for rightful reason!
Damn, I'm not a big pride in my state guy but fuck, I got so pumped that he won this in Maryland. Hell yeah.
Now that was some big meaty men slapping meat right there. Also was that Austin in the celebration group?
What do you think Ron's first words winning the title were?
This is why I subscribe to the boys. Never seen this match, prob woulda thought it was gonna suck. Hell of a lot of fun to watch. Happy Friday
More old school wrestling pls. It’s a whole ass vibe
awesome
Glad I got to watch the full match. Old school wrasslin can be awesome as hell sometimes.
Definitely need some more old school wrestling. The vibe is just so different.
No one sells world Championships changes better than JR. Not only putting the guy over but doing it naturally so it doesn't detract. It's how an actual sports announcer would do it.
Ron Simmons was the shit don't let anyone tell you different
Vince said "I'M GONNA PUT A GLADIATOR HELMET ON THAT GUY!"
This match was so good! The crowd was so hot for it too, there is nothing like great old school wrestling.
We need more prime WCW Vader matches for the boys to watch.
Oh my god, I was just thinking a few days ago that this would be a good Watch This
I think we need Stan Hansen vs Vader in the future.
happy to see Toby. but also, this looks like this one for da BOYZ
Old School wrestling is so fun to go back and watch. 20,000 on their feet for a hip Toss
Much respect for choosing this particular match.
Loving the old school content. Well older than 1998 or so
IT’S TIME
Ah, the "I have a black friend" of Bill Watts' booking. Match is pretty sick, though, ngl
