I did a podcast on the episode from the previous week and the segment where Piper picked his team was an all time dud. He was just trying to get a job for his personal assistant Craig, Layton Morrison who he met on a movie set doing stunt work, and his buddy John Tenta. Why not pick actual names from the roster and add John Tenta?! That crowd would have preferred fuckin Mike Enos and Ice Train to two absolute nobodies who didn’t even look good in their tryout
You need to watch the Nitro from the week before to see Piper forming his family. It is one of the most surreal segments you will ever see.
One of the people rejected was Bill Goldberg, who had just started training at the Power Plant not long earlier. Six months later, he would show up on Nitro and the undefeated streak began.
Double Team is so good. It needs to be a SGH. Mickey Rourke is the villain.

Concerning "Don't throw anyone in the pool." stuff, Bull Pain once told a story (featured in an older Botchamania) that he had a match with Van Hammer during Spring Break-Out '99 where Hammer was just DETERMINED to throw him in the pool despite being told in the back to specifically NOT do that. So Bull, because clearly he doesn't want to get heat for something out of his control, begins stiffing Hammer every single time he tried to throw Bull into the pool. Eventually he gets Hammer away from the guardrail in order to do the finish, in which Hammer straight up dumps Bull's ass in the middle of the ring.

You really should watch the Team Piper episode of Nitro, it's a glorious disaster. The whole angle was Pipers idea and they only time I can think of where he flexed his creative control.
