DEADLOCK Watch This #231
You wanna know what? NWO, that's what!
We just talked about the angle between the nWo and Stone Cold on one of the latest editions of the DEADLOCK Podcast, so we figured we'd see how this match feels many, many years later!

that ref slide was genuinely unbelievable wtf
I know X8 isn't as highly regarded as other Manias, Especially when it had to live up to X7 and then was followed by XIX, but without a doubt the atmosphere and aesthetics of the event is legendary to me, The large crowd and the lighting of this event (and most WWE PPV's at the time) looked incredible on VHS and felt like the definitive look of a major wrestling event. I'm pretty sure those pan out shots of the crowd when Austins taunting and celebrating on the ropes have been used in video packages on TV, in documentaries and video games for years to come. I'm pretty the wide shot at 3:56 was used in the story mode menu background for the first SVR game.
Hall with one of the best stunner sells ever. The medium-sized meng got AIR.
Tony and I both said "it's Wrestlemania" at the same time when Johnny said "the boys are really selling tonight!"
epilepsy lol
Cracked a couple mengweisers for this one
silver bullet was coors light, fyi
Dude. The match was fine & competently working. But what fucks me up so royally is how STONE COLD is out there, working his ass off, and it is soooooo quiet.
Hall with the nWo penis trunks is cracking me up; kinda looks like he's wearing them backwards style
Seen a deez nuts sign in the crowd, was that a thing then or time traveller?(It's behind Austin when he's celebrating)
it's a really old saying. A lot of new slang words/phrases are just recycled from previous generations.
Booger Meng vs Booger Rattlesnake
They mentioned it on one of the pods last year, but we talk about Hall a lot but actually seeing him feels very rare, even when he's in the company.
I remember Kevin Nash saying in a shoot that Scott wasn’t afraid to lose because he knew he could rip anyone up on the mic and get his heat back if he needed to
greased up ref guy
Ayo chico…..YOU wanna WAR?
Johnny not sure why Nash wasnt in a match. This is Kevin Nash, the king of working harder then everyone. You know they were planning something and he probably said "I should be out there with Hall, rough up Steve a bit. Would make him look strong ya know." Easy money baby
I think I remember Stone Cold on his podcast saying that he was.. Not Happy about having to work Hall in the lead up and build to this angle. Hall actually ended up doing the straight and narrow up to this match, but I don't think Stone Cold was about to not get some liberties in regardless
If I remember JR's book right, they had Nash on standby in case Scott was unable to go in this Austin match.
This match completely fucked Hall for years.
This was the first ever Wrestlemania I watched and I bought it from the local video store because I didn't have Sky TV.
Scott Hall was the most effortlessly cool wrestler ever. His movements in the ring, his mannerisms, promos, moveset,, everything was awesome. Definitely one of the GOATS 🐐 🙌🏾
This is that pre quad tear Nash who invented the 450 splash.
I'm pretty sure Flair was the one who bled crazy before this match
Damn, Nash moved more in 20 minutes than he did in the previous 5 years.
That ref slide in was skeewoah as fuck
sgh being uploaded at 11:59pm
I'm here from A waaar
YO BOI IS BOUNCYYYYY HELLL YEAHHHHHHH
great timing picking a match in the Toronto Skydome right when they're gonna be back in the building for another PPV just so we can see what a real house looks right
…Hhheyyo
I'm going to go find a Big meng a medium sized meng a Max Mini sized meng and regular sized Meng and have a Meng off.
Man, other than The Rock, Hall has to be one of the best sells for the Stunner. He's so good. And as for seeing Nash move like that, prob have to watch him playing for the Tennessee Vols basketball team to see it
No idea why, but the ref sliding in and Kevin Nash timing that elbow drop perfectly is a core wrestling memory for me
You want to Watch.... This?
mane got stunned and flew
Nash didn't have a match on the show in case he had to sub in for Hall. This despite the fact that, up until the week of when he found out the finish was being changed, Hall was sober for the entire run-in to Mania.
It goes even deeper than that with the nWo shirts Tony. For the pre-tapes and motion graphics Hall, Nash, and Hogan are each wearing different versions of the nWo shirt across the groups existence in WCW. Nash is wearing the original, which lacks the "new world order" subtitle text. Hogan is wearing the second version, which has the version of the logo WWE would use for the nWo. And Hall is wearing the nWo 2000 silver and black shirt.
Watch this Tooth hurty !
NO! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Scott taking the Stunner and flying through the air is legendary
YOU WANT A WAR????? OH HELL YEAHHHHHHHHH
When Scott Hall comes to town I KNOW y’all are gonna BOW DOWN
You want? A war?
