DEADLOCK Podcast #284 (Video)
On February 1st, 2001 WWF SmackDown! was taken to the XTREME! This is the one and only episode of SmackDown that they called Xtreme! Why was it called this? It’s not an ECW reunion show, as ECW was still in business. Every match isn’t a hardcore gimmick match. It has a lot to do with the TV show Friends & Survivor both airing at the same time. Also, the XFL is premiering this weekend and it was a good idea to promote it! The show opens with The Dudleys defending the Tag Team TItles against the Hardy Boyz in a tables match. It’s not the best tables match, but there are some crazy spots that have never been done before or since this match. Also, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H are not allowed to touch at all or severe consequences will be upon both of them. Stone Cold takes over Triple H’s locker room and then takes a massive dump in the bathroom. At one point during the night Austin shakes up 2 beer cans and sprays them on Hunter. But remember, Triple H can’t touch The Rattlesnake. As Mr. McMahon is leaving for the night, Stephanie approaches him and asks that Triple H get added to the main event WWF title match, with Kurt Angle defending against The Rock. Mr. McMahon agrees and the match is set. In the main event, as the ref is knocked down, Kurt Angle pins Triple H. Stone Cold enters the ring and makes a fast count with the ref's hand. Kurt Angle retains the title and Triple H is livid! Plus, Kane and The Undertaker battle Rikishi and Haku in a First Blood match!

Hey Boys I absolutely love your podcasts I have a Match recommendation for Watch this It’s Roderick Strong vs Davey Richards from PWG Titánica 2010 it’s an incredible matchup.
“We love some parts of Jersey”…Jawny say it ain’t so
Don't worry, we love all the jersey crowd! Venues.... maybe different story.
The finish to the triple threat match is the same as the finish to Austin vs. Dude Love Over The Edge '98 when he does the 3 count to his own pin using Vince's hand after braining him with a steel chair. In WWE as long as the ref's hand does the count it works.
This episode was my very first wrestling-related memory. I was like 6 when this show happened, and when The Kat started to strip, my sister came in and yelled to my parents that I was watching it.
30 years from now the opening for Deadlock will say Then Now Ass First Together
All that Sega Dreamcast talk got me feeling nostalgic. Still my favorite console of all time.
56k on a console may not have been ideal for games with real-time competitive play but man, Phantasy Star Online worked like gangbusters. Spent a good amount of time playing with a very friendly Japanese dude who gifted me insane duped weapons.
Shitting pissing crying screaming shooting absolute ropes
Weiner muscle builder lol. Like viscera was racking up Weiner powder in the locker room haha
Pouring two big scoops of Weider Muscle Builder on my DPW Catering Oatmeal for the Boost I Need to get my ass destroyed by ViF (I do not have a tag partner.)
The Stone Cold "wiped the rim for my protection" I believe is a "y'all got crabs" joke bc of that one urban legend that u can get it from toilet seats
does pedro still do the podcast art? because this one is an all-timer
He does!
Pulse, ever the professional - kept saying "SegaNet" incorrectly as "SegaCom" multiple times, kept talking about the early days of online console gaming, and when reading something online, finally said SegaNet correctly and in no way realized he was ever wrong. The kind of professionalism we value at the helm. (Just joshing with you. Good pod this week - I just found it funny that you kept talking about it and was waiting for the realization you were saying it wrong!)
Dude I was curious and looked it up, but Friends was getting over 20 million viewers weekly
Must See TV on NBC every Thursday back then was always putting out monster ratings every week.
This was Tony’s true return, He was going crazy this episode😂😭
Skeeewhoooahhh
Yo that Jimmy Hart story is crazy 🤣 Explains why he was so supportive during Hulk Hogan's diverticulitis of the penis dude! He had a similar injury brother!
Already a funny pod, AND THEN WE GOT AN MXC REFERENCE!! Best episode ever.
Dubbed era Kai En Tai is based as hell.
I've always thought the red X was a RTC gimmick.
Ayo chill I’m at work bruddah
When Matt Leg Dropped the table, I genuinely thought the match would’ve been over like when Big Show stepped through one by accident & lost to Cody
Also the Bubba Bomb ending kinda confused me too bc they both went through & Bubba’s ass technically hits first for that move. Still kick ass spot though
The Friends Episode (The One where Rosita Dies, S7 Ep13) around this time was kind of heavy lol Pheobe helps talk a guy out of suicide played by Josh Alexander, Monica and Ross help their parents sell their childhood home, and Joey's favorite recliner dies lol
Jesus Christ, that's insane. The kind of stuff they put every episode is why Friends was always top 10 in the ratings throughout its run.
Anything involving Hogan and Bubba the Love Sponge makes me automatically know it's a lie that tries to make Hogan look good
Hearing the yapapi style WAPSSSH during every name graphic got old quick
Daaaa.. Big Show is back in town?
I remember sitting and watching this in 2001, playing with Lego because I didn’t even have wrestling figures yet. I assumed the massive ‘X’ was because they were trying to censor chairshots and stuff. I was 10. Thanks for reviewing this amazing show.
The boys are back in town :)
