DEADLOCK Podcast #277 (Video)
Welcome everyone to WWF SATURDAY NIGHT’S MAIN EVENT on NBC! We are going back to October 5th, 1985! Love is in the air as Uncle Elmer is getting married! Uncle Elmer of the Hillbilly Jim family! Some wrestlers think wrestling and romance don’t mix, but this is the first REAL wedding on TV since Tiny Tim and Miss Vicky! Also, Hulk Hogan is the WWF Champion and Nikolai Volkoff, Feddie Blassie, and the Soviet Union threaten the entire USA! It is up to the Hulkster to save the day and defend the honor of America! It’s Flag vs Flag! Plus, Jesse Ventura’s Body Shop talk show, Bobby Heenan’s $50,000 Bounty, where’s George “The Animal” Steele been, and much more as we throw it back to the '80s!

2nd best era after attitude
ty
Reminder: the Treetop Casino episode of Viva La Bam involves them constructing a wrestling ring and having a wrestling match, which qualifies it for WatchThis. It's also 21 minutes.
viva la bam bit was so based
This was an all timer episode
The Joel kamala thing is because at anarchy rulz 2000 he painted himself like kamala and faced don callis lmao
Macgruber Dudley
Great episode boys! Stomach still hurts from laughing. Johnny, you do a great Jesse The Body!
YEAAAAAA!! MORE OLD SHIT!!!
Taaaa
I had to pause for like five or six minutes when it became clear that Johnny thought “Plowboy” meant “a guy who fucks”
Stop with all the Metaphor: Re-Fantazio slander, or I will put this copy of Astro-Bot up Jawnny’s ass
Holy shit my dad went to this show back in the day. He used to go to all of the MSG and Meadowlands shows in the 80’s, and I remember him telling me about booing through the entire wedding segment
Another benefit of doing more 80's stuff is the boys getting to experience Bobby Heenan and Jesse Ventura commentary while they were in their prime. Which is why the Flair Rumble ('92) should probably be the SGH for January.
Jawny asking Tony if his kids make a “shoot Christmas list” is pure wrestling brain rot. Love him despite the odorrrr
I'm glad that was more fun than you'd expect from 80's WWF. Piper/Orndoff seems like the rare No Contest match that does what it's supposed to do; leave you happy and also wanting more! Also, it took 15 years, but someone finally tried to collect on that bounty at Fall Brawl 2000.
Have the boys done the Hogan/Andre rematch episode of Main Event? That might be an interesting one.
That's the one with the double Hebner finish, right?
Booty butt cheeks
i loved this review. i hope the second episode of snme happens in the future!
god i love the question section just for the names alone
Jawny! You son of a bitch. I’m driving and when that Beavis impression came out I had to pull over cause I couldn’t breathe
genuinely popped hard hearing my name in the Patreon shout out for the first time! I would Highly suggest the next SNME Halloween episode from Hershey, Pa after this episode if anyone wants to see the wedding feud and the follow match with hogan and Andre. All I'll say to spoil anything is Iron Shiek dressed as batman
I have vague memories of Joel Gertner speaking to Kamala in clicks and whistles which I assumed was a really racist tumor developing in my brain but I guess that shit was real
For the record Kamala II was indeed a gimmick Stan Frazier did in Memphis occasionally, teaming with the original Kamala. He’s not even the only Kamala II, Kamala gave his blessing to Ben Peacock aka Botswana Beast aka Kimala II aka Uganda to be Giant Kimala in All Japan, remember him from VPW2?
Mr. Blud claims he likes gifts and yet he intentionally ignores good ole Dan's gifts. What is this dudes problem.
This is my favourite pod episode i think. i wasnt expecting the kamala flow chart. it changed my life
hey shitbirds, this podcast is pretty muffed up yo
I have a similar story about Goldust to the one mentioned in the Q&A segment. My dad didn't like wrestling and never understood why I was watching it. One time we were flipping through channels on TV, and RAW was on, and my dad decided to stay on this channel in order to understand why I am so into wrestling. And of course when he decided to do that, it wasn't some cool match or promo, it was a Ted DiBiase, Johnny Knoxville & Goldust segment from 2010 RAW, and it was awful. This was the last time my dad watched wrestling, but he still remembers the big gold one. He literally knows 4 wrestlers: Rock, Hogan, Batista, and Goldust. So yeah, everybody knows Goldust.
Bruiser Brodie taking convention bookings in 2024 is WILD
Brutus beefcake's gimmick here is that he's a male stripper.
Thankfully he wasn’t a female stripper that would’ve been harder to pull off
I believe George Steele was the teacher/wrestler from that era of the WWF, to make a minor correction there. Regardless, apparently he was absolutely a truly nice guy to everyone, like what was said.
Have the boys reviewed Joe vs kobashi in roh on here i just joined the patreon
Sup bro, it’s on the watch this section. They have done it :)
I hope the boys do more '80s WWF if only because Jawnny's Andre voice is fucking astounding and he should be given every possible excuse to break it out
God damn Macho Man is sleepin', got The Honky Tonk Man playing a show next door, Rake Yohn shit his pants after seeing a Hulk Hogan T Shirt because it's yellow like mustard, Tony fucked Novak in his mouth while James and Johnny screamed YEAHHH
the kamala flow chart was so fucking insane in ways that i can't quantify
The visual of Hogan getting stomped out in the back while Ventura smokes a lung dart is what keeps me coming back to this show
You boys underestimate the dickrider status of Brutus Beefcake. This dude was Hogan's ball-licker for his entire career. His literal first gimmick was being Hogan's brother in the AWA.
I always wondered why bam talked like that on viva la bam
Great episode! Fun to watch for the pod too. Hope you guys do more 80s stuff in the future. Maybe even an old wcw Clash episode
James the Panthers can't trade players they dont even want for picks everyone wants
really wasn't expecting a Hot Frosty shout out
Jawwny sell me a signed copy of MacGruber. It’ll be the perfect Christmas gift 😂
The wrestling may not appeal to the boys, but this era has the highest concentration of coked-out, fucked-fucker carnies. It's worth it just to marvel at these crazy bastards.
Jim Carrys Grinch not getting a shout out is a sin to humanity
God listening to this episode while high must be insane once it gets to the Kamala Bloodline
Drop the Viva La Bam episode of Watch This NOW!!!!!!
The shield of their generation. You know what James is on to something here. The man is right
Fuck yeah today is gonna be less shitty because THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!
Just realized that yall can do the Mega Powers breakup episode of The Main Event. TONY I KNOW YOU HAVE LUST IN YOUR EYES FOR ELIZABIT
also- dying at the bam margera jackass skit breakdowns, that but just narrating pranking macho man so he breaks his legs doing a double axe off the top of a cage
dude.. BROEWN BRICKS IN MINE CRAP???
Tony is my favorite
What's the episode where they talk about new jack throwing a guy out the window?
The Bam voice already made this episode 10/10 😂
DUDE! I was just listening to the pod episode where you mentioned the Dudesons! It was the TNA Thursday debut one, during the observer notes, episode 258 (yes I had to look up the number.) All you did was mention that they were TNA's lead-in, that was it.
They should watch the Dudesons. Thumbs up thumbs down?
This is gonna be a fucked-up podcast.
I remember watching this live and geeking out about it
This the oldest show they ever reviewed?
good morning dippers
