DEADLOCK Podcast #268 (Video)
January 18th, 1993 marks the HISTORIC 2nd episode of WWF Monday Night RAW. The Royal Rumble is coming up and we have a lot to promote. Including, The Repo Man stealing Macho Man Randy Savage’s hat. Yup, you heard me right, the entire episode revolves around Macho Man’s hat getting stolen. Also, Rob Bartlett is still here on commentary with some “comedy.” Plus, Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair build to a Loser Leaves The WWF match, a couple Superstars call in to commentary, and of course this is the Royal Rumble go home show! And the DEADLOCK Patreon Q&A is back!

you should keep watching raw chronologically until the wwf dies like you did for the xwf and xwo
James' Tenay face during the entire Somalia segment KILLED me 😂 holyyyy
I did not enjoy this episode of RAW, but I do appreciate the perspective the boys gave concerning how there was in fact two enjoyable matches on this show that were hurt significantly by all the things that weren't the match. And I'm happy for them they were able to get enjoyment out of those two matches despite all the things against them. WWE just does that on the regular, honestly. I don't watch the current product, but I imagine that even if someone somehow had a good match on a RAW, it would be drowned out by the company's awful production and terrible, TERRIBLE commentary. None of these people sound like humans. Just bots spewing catchphrases and terms. They don't actually care. So why should I give a shit about the product? I am certain that if 1993 Terry Taylor and Mr. Perfect happened in front of me and I wasn't listening to an awful commentary team listen to an overlong Bobby Heenan bit, I might have enjoyed the match!
Struck me as another shining example of how much VInce hated his own business and the very thing that made him successful. Week two of the company's big weekly primetime TV show and he's actively backgrounding in-ring action to make hacky jokes and push "stories" (which, by the way, suck!)
Another crazy funny pod, my question got picked, Repo Man antics, AND James and his family are ok after the hurricane. Truly, this was the Super-est of Tuesday episodes.
Tony preaching fax on popping out kids is a strong motivator to get you into the gym…and in debt…and emotionally drained…but you’re in the gym though!
Honestly kinda hyped for episode 3. We need to see if Macho gets the hat back, man!
If yall ever decide to put merch up again, I got an idea. So it's the Slipknot logo, but instead it says Slapnutz.
Oh shit shout the fuck out to Arson City! Their Separate Ways cover goes hard as fuck
#BartlettBoyz
Mum sad 😢
Really glad to hear that James and his family are safe from the hurricanes ❤️
FORMERLY The Don of WB, I’m expecting an update in the next video and a discussion about my place on the DPW card in five years.
Shout out to Asa Akira for real.
Shout out to Toby for the correct opinion of Friday the 13th Part 3 as fav halloween movie bc me too- loved the USA marathons on Friday the 13th with the commercial of him running a literal marathon and lopping the arms off of the water ppl
also shout out jame for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and the goat Chop Top saying "Lick my plate, dog dick"
I love that James defaults to Don Vito for incomprehensible promos.
Repo Man: “nobody knew who I was until I put on the hat.”
Rob Bartlett making a Sinead O'Connor reference and basically calling Heenan a pedophile is insane.
I would put money on no thought being put into referencing what Sinead was actually saying, Vince just knew it as a current event and therefore they should do it on the show to be "smart" and timely. (He always struck me as a guy who thinks the appeal of topical humor doesn't go beyond "When you see something you've seen before, THAT'S COMEDY")
Where is da video??
My foot is on the bottom rope for this.
Yes for Episode 3!
Funny enough bartlett did understand he was no good at his commentator job at wwf because the references and jokes flew by many and honestly he was a frequent guest on the don imus show so vince thought to bring him in to add some funny skits... But we got lawler as commentator later on so............
