DEADLOCK Podcast #255 (Video)
August 30th, 1994 is the night the ECW Revolution began. On ECW TV, there was a tournament to crown a new NWA World Champion. The finals came down to 2 Cold Scorpio and Shane Douglas with Shane Douglas winning the match. After the match Douglas cuts a legendary promo and throws the NWA belt on the ground. He says the NWA is dead and crowns himself the ECW World Heavyweight Champion. The aftermath is crazy as Todd Gordon folds NWA ECW and in its place is Extreme Championship Wrestling! Also on the show Tommy Dreamer loses a Singapore Caning Match against The Sandman and has to take 10 shots to the back! This moment made Tommy Dreamer’s entire career!

Please book someone on a DPW show to be The Deadlock Boy, Captain New Japan style.
Bro listening to this the day after Castellanos at 9th inning is nuts
On my 5th MF birthday the EXTREME was born
so i had fun with maxxxine, but i think pearl is still my favorite out of the trilogy. i’ve seen a lot of people call it the weakest out of the 3 but def think that was maxxxine. the only scene where they started cooking was the movie store scene and then they just never went to that. still a fun movie but weird pacing and story
“you wanna get eastern, you wanna do it on xwt” incredible content
OH MY GOD I never thought anyone would ever reference the Sandman NoDQ .com promo video! Legendary internet stuff there. That whole bit was hilarious.
it's been referenced in the newest 2k game
damn i had no idea maxine was out. y’all callin it a noir sold me on it already, that’s my shit. guessing it plays into the old hollywood noir moreso than neo noir (sunset boulevard, not se7en) which does not sound up the boyz alley at all but i’mma eat that up
Ecw makes me wanna watch the hayabusa anus explosion deathmatch
Johnny might not know who Noel comix is.. but he does now ROLL THE B ROLL SANDWICH https://youtu.be/EcjiSCufNUk?si=ojRj4WClLJtGjBwY
I was listening to this episode when grocery shopping. I dropped a jar of pickles from laughing so hard at the part of Dreamer asking for another. The boys owe me $3.65.
Im so glad to hear you guys watch czw I know jawnny was involved with it and me and some friends have been watching it a lot recently id love for you guys to review a full czw show on the pod that'd be incredible best of the best 1 is a good one
we’re gonna keep Killer Klowns alive big style
The thing about Smithfield's is that, if you're in any town in Eastern NC with a Smithfield's? You've *definitely* got a better local spot nearby. It's often a convenient option, but it's rarely going to be your first choice. And James may take my side bread away for saying this, but I grew up with Lexington-style (pulled, shoulder-only, sweet sauce) barbecue and I think I'd give it the edge over Eastern-style...not down with the red slaw, though.
it wasn’t called hardcore tv until ecw on tnn started! up until then it was just called eastern/extreme championship wrestling
Friendship ended with OSW Review; now Deadlock is my best friend
Aww dang did my name not update in time? Here's hoping it comes up next time.
We only read the name you first signed up with.
I just wanted to give a little update on Severn as NWA World Champ. In that 4 year period as champ, he did defend the title a lot. Such people as Tajiri, Steven Regal, Jim Neidhart, Tarzan Goto, Tommy Cairo, Al Snow, and many others. It's a fascinating group of defense but they were sometimes months in between. It would be a fun list for the boys to read on the pod.
TONY, JUST BECAUSE HE'S YOUR BROTHER DOESN'T MEAN HE SHOULD HAVE HIS OWN EPISODE.
I finished the Tag Festival last night and it ripped so much fucking ass! What a FANTASTIC show; keep cookin', bois.
Shane Douglas as the flag bearer. No wonder they went out of business.
In regard to Maxxxine, I understand where you’re coming from, but I kinda fit with the vision of the trilogy as a whole. Each focused on what it meant to be a star in the given eras. The original focused on the sexual exploitation of the 70s, Pearl was focused on being on stage, and Maxxxine focused on the 80s VHS boom. At the same time, this was also a HUGE time for the Giallo flicks, and this blatantly followed a lot of those tropes (black-gloved killer, stabbings, a murder mystery, etc.).
I fell to my knees in Walmart when I thought James teased Trevor Lee vs Chris Hero for DPW.
I don’t know how you don’t see this and not tune in every week, Paul E was cookin
Damn this clussy gimmick went hard this episode. I think im gonna go on a run with it.
