Dunno if you r ever heard of the show Leverage? It's about con artists who pursue other con artists, and the main guy lost his son due to insurance swindling, so he tries to help other people. I think Usagi's mother got swindled for all her money, including the money for her daughter's health care, which is how she got coerced into the organ selling deal. Organs are hard to get, so some companies can apparently be predatory towards grieving families. Also, at least in China, there's superstition that a body needs to be complete at burial, so organ donation is avoided. But there's urban legend type rumors about bodies being sold, or prisoners being executed for organ harvest. Very likely hugely exaggerated, but more of an issue than it might be to Americans.
A huge theme I see with Jojolion are how beholden everyone is to the system they take part in and how those in control of the system barely register the as individuals. Part 9 opens with Jodio and Dragona being pulled over by corrupt cops. Charming Man was unable to find his brother because of policemen, firemen, and such standing in the way and denying him a chance to search for his brother. Howler's gang of goons are all people representing a sort of authority in everyday life (police, firemen, lawyer) and yet despite these people under him, Howler is still helpless against the authority known as the president. Part 2 starts out with the fact that the land is currently obstructed by the government itself and that Usagi's family is essentially kidnapped through financial means with even his sister being reduced to dollars.
someone said that usage sitting alone at the apartment is sort of a reference to the lyrics of Matte Kudasai, it's pretty interesting really.
I love how you can see the train railroad from the window in the Usagi mom scene. And then we see Usagi walking near it to get to his house. Idk if it's silly to call that "foreshadowing" but it's a great detail since this is all before the reveal of that being his mom
"I feel like Paco would just like get a job" Damn, you sure know the guy
St. Gentleman reference in 2026 holy crap. I wonder if the brand survived that long and expanded to America in the original universe too.
I was genuinely unable to turn the page for at least some minutes due to how impacted I was by the 9 month time skip and Act 2 announcement. Holy shit. This whole thing, everything this chapters sets for the new arc... it's exciting! Yet scary. Since this all feels like new territory for the series. Such a long time skip, a Part divided in acts no main villain nor antagonic group so far... as always, Araki loves going out of his comfort zone, and I will always respect and admire him for that.
1:10 Bro... Who am I kidding, I can't even judge you.
what I'm wondering with the cyber crime is, does it have something to do with Howler. He did lose everything and has gone underground
a proper timeskip in JoJo's feels so weird even tho Part 1 also had one
Finally
