Discord Invite Link
Edit: 11/11/24 - Apparently a link that never expires, expires. Updated, apologies.
Edit: 11/12/24 - Updated again. This seems to be a site-wide issue with Discord after having spent time on the subreddit and elsewhere trying to figure out what's going on. I'm just going to put a notification in my calendar to check every few days and update it. Or maybe make my own webhook from a landing page?
Edit: 3/9/25 - Updated again. (I've updated a few times in the past few months but not bragged about it lol)
As some of you may know, the Discord integration w/ Patreon has not been working. The final troubleshooting step I have is removing all integration and starting over, which will remove every pre-existing role. So I've decided to try and get some support from Patreon before going that route.
In the meantime, here's a permalink that gets you in the server without a default role (there's no difference between roles other than title):
https://discord.gg/N8JyAkE5HW
I'm sorry if you've been unable to get in. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly!

can we setup a matrix server instead? I know of a service that will stand up a server and manage it for you.
First time made an account on discord to join your server and got suspended without even entering it, what a nonsense. Apparently it isn't rare either to be suspended before you can actually do anything, what a circus :D
I want to join the conversation. You have the skills, and the community I think, to operate a secure PRIVATE solution that doesn't KYC the curious. Please ditch discord!! https://matrix.org/blog/2026/02/welcome-discord/
Looking for a good video on using graffiti/art to effectively help with messaging on issues. Like including QR codes on slap stickers and leaflets/posters.
Look in to Matrix as a decentralized, self-hostable, federated, end-to-end encrypted Discord alternative that this community in particular would vibe with. https://www.matrix.org/ https://github.com/element-hq/ess-helm
I never used Discord because of various security and privacy concerns. So, I second the question of the poster before me if you're planning to move away from it. I'm using Matrix myself for many years for example, but I'm open for any solution that's free, open and decentralized. Just a friendly suggestion.
OT: I had a window open in Firefox with a paused video of yours. Despite being paused, it played Grainger ads out loud and woke me up twice. I'm glad you're monetizing but if you can ask YT not to do that it would be better for the subscribers.
I don't do discord. I would like to be able to start collecting data on a raspberry shake or similar as per the latest video and share this data. I am barely just getting familiar with arduino and other mcus and do not have a pi or any other rasp device nor experience with such.
pi make good hardware and also good software. if you're an MCU person I humbly suggest the Pico dev board and the SDK they provide for it. the SDK doesn't have the wide hardware support that arduino does, but personally I prefer it. and the pi RP2x MCU line are very solid chips, cheap and powerful.
Well, Discord is going to be forcing facial scans upon us all (quick search will show the news). Any plans to move away from it?
Seconded - there are better more sovereign ways to do this than discord. matrix simplex session etc.. I came for the anarchism, but staying for the music. Just started listening and the 90's techno is like going home after a long trip.
Incidentally, I can't help but think you look a bit like Christopher Lloyd's "Doc" in "Back To the Future". That's like icing on a cake for my nostalgic gen-X mind.
But handsomer! Similar facial structure, but way handsomer!
Hi, Benn. I'm in awe of you, and I am so glad you are such a good educator. I'm sure there are some things we may not agree on, but nobody agrees on everything -- what fun would that be? I'm totally onboard with trying to be more private in these bizarroworld times. 'Was turned on to your YouTube channel by some people at SASSI. (That's Southerners Against Surveillance Systems & Infrastructure). I'm not so much a musician as an occasional guitar parlor-trick performer. I like finger-picking style but I learn slowly from tablature and know little about music except that I enjoy it. I use open-source software sometimes to help with composing or altering tablature. I also use Audacious to edit recordings sometimes, but very basic stuff.
Jesus bro. I think hes got a boyfriend already. Looks like you're out of luck. 🤣
Thanks for turning out to be a simp for illegal aliens. Saved me a dollar a month.
better than being a simp for daddy gubbermint
As someone who came to you through your "gadgets for anarchists" video and other work on Flock cameras and whatnot, I've found your Discord server to be pretty closed-off and unwelcoming.
how so? that’s the same reason i joined
Nm, this one works, I'll delete other comment
Hi Ben long time fan and supporting since able to in 2025. Came for the birds and stayed for the Work you do with our children's future in mind... Off topic but came across this man who works on bird communication, might be a good team up opportunity? https://youtu.be/jmys2abx4co?si=WrdkXWC7BFnCERLb
was going to say the same thing! that video was fascinating immediately thought of benn lmao
Hey do you have a flac version of your audio you might be cool sharing? Greatly enjoying. Spent too much (not enough) of the 90s raving and crawling through independant artists discographies and love the vibe, Tast My Solitude , I am an unbreakable shard of glass, and Drape before the storm have a kind of Lamb / New Order / Vangelis inspired vibe going on thats intriguingly awesome. Would love to hear it via Flac on headphones.
Man you are authentic. respect
Please elaborate on how he's authentic. I'm dying to hear this.
Hey Benn, your music and your youtube work is just amazing. In this day and age my highest compliment is authentic.
Using Discord is like eating glass... But that's Discord itself.

Links not working right now. Need to repost it😅
why discord link no work? 😭
None of the discord links are working for me :(
Thanks, but no thanks on the Discord invite. I'd rather keep our interactions to Patreon, if you don't mind.
EDIT!! i didnt scroll far enough for the new one!!! maybe update the pinned link :) discord invite link says invalid, please advise/update, thanks!
I saw your video on AI camera and license plates. You mentioned imaging you've done to protect your music Can such a thing be applied to movies as well? Im trying to protect my content from piracy.
Link doesn't work, again :(
Abrax, use the link at the end of the post. The endpoint portion of the URL starts with "N8J"...
It no worky
FWIW, if Benn were (**able to**) link the Patreon to the Discord (this is built in Patreon functionality), then people joining the Patreon would (if they opted in to it) be auto-joined to the Discord, avoiding this entire "invite link expired" dance. See "Setting up Discord for your members" in the Patreon "Community Tools" documentation, particularly the bit where you authorise the Patreon Discord bot to join Patreon members to the Discord server. (The "permanent link" in the *post body* -- not the header -- worked for me.) **ETA**: reading between the lines it seems this link has been tried several times, and not worked; which is weird as it works for most other Patreon / Discord combos I've encountered. Ewen
could you make a new link that is set to never expire? the "Join Server" takes me to a channel that doesn't exist ( https://discord.com/channels/790833966017937419 ).. feels like i'm unable to join the discord, which is why i wanted to become a patreon in the first place for. also https://discord.com/invite/buScx9AD7S seems expired.
In case this helps anyone—the first time I tried the link, I got an error, but I tried it again just after, now that the Discord app was open and logged in, and it worked.
No luck still.
now it worked for me :)
How do you feel about moving to a totally different solution? I miss the old school methods like forum on nowadays interwebs and discourse (not discord) is in my eyes a fresh breath of air with the forum in a modern approach. I would much more engage in such environment than on any of the current social platforms nowadays. How do other people feel about that? (It's the platform polyend and Farnam street use for their community)
I know this is old, but I miss forums. Top notch way to connect with people. I think it's partly why I've lost touch with all of my online friends and now don't know how to begin getting a community back. I'd love it. <3
It’s working for me now, edit: so I used it when first posted and it worked, clicking on it now doesn’t work like an hour later. Although I have fortunately got in to the discord the link problem seems very much to be broken again.
I don't use Discord because it gives authentication problems every single time I try to use it (plus about 20 minutes to reset everything and logging again. In 2024.. ). I'd move to another platform, like Telegram or do.
Sorry to say, but its not working.
Error message here too.. the link has either expired or isn't valid 🤷🏻♂️
The new updated less expired link worked for me. Maybe there's a horde detector or something that rejects us if Benn is too popular?
here's a picture of the error message I got when I followed the discord invite link today: https://imgur.com/a/q0dRRve
My god. I don't know what to do at this point.
Update 11/11: link still not working lol
Ditto
Still broken
N9t working
Yer this is broken sadly
Link is not working.
"link has expired" 😕
This one doesn't work, could we get new one please? Cheeers :)
Invalid
Invalid/Expired disco link
i’m also getting invalid invite
Like the other people have mentioned, the link gives me the error of "Invite Invalid - This invite may be expired or you might not have permission to join.". And that is regardless if I'm signed into Discord or in a private window. Please do what it takes to get that fixed, this is the only private Discord server I can't join and without it this Patreon feels like a ghost town...
Link didn't work for me. "Invite invalid"
Link doesn’t work. Alas.
Haven't noticed a problem still on the server, guess we have nothing to do if its work still?
Thanks man!
