Goodbye Eternity's future
Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I trust you've been enjoying the latest update.
Today, I wish to share some news regarding the future of Goodbye Eternity. Due to a decline in sales revenue on Itch.io, the inability to launch the game on Steam due to a ban, and rampant piracy of the game, I find myself in a difficult situation.
In order to continue developing the game conscientiously, some tough decisions will need to be made. This is so that everyone can enjoy the game right through to the end of the story—which, I assure you, isn't coming any time soon.
In light of these developments, I would like to give you a glimpse behind the scenes and share some figures from the analytics we set up after the latest update, in case you missed them.
For instance, if I asked you what percentage of the 70,000 copies of the game were pirated, what would your guess be? 40%? 50%? The highest guess I received was 60%... All these numbers significantly underestimate the reality; the actual figure is around 93%.
Yes, you heard correctly: 93% of the copies of the game were obtained illegally. While I am glad the game is so popular, it deeply saddens me that the financial viability of the project rests on the shoulders of the remaining 7% who support the game on Patreon, Itch.io, SubscribeStar, and Boosty.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of you who support this project.
It was also decided that version 0.7.9 would be the last one to be offered free of charge. The intention behind this move is to present a demo version of the game, allowing people to familiarize themselves with the content before deciding whether or not to purchase the full version. I believe that 0.7.9, which encompasses several hours of gameplay, should suffice for players to make an informed decision.
I understand that many of you might be deceived by this news, but it's an unfortunate but necessary step towards ensuring the sustainability of this project. It's crucial to remember that creating a game is not only a time-intensive process, but also requires a substantial financial investment. To ensure that we can continue developing and improving Goodbye Eternity, we must strike a balance between offering free content and securing the financial support necessary to keep the project alive.
Of course, our decision does not mean we will stop appreciating the goodwill and dedication of our player community. In fact, we are exploring ways to reward those of you who have shown continued support throughout this journey. We also commit to maintaining the quality and richness of content for future updates, ensuring that the game remains worth your time and investment.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your feedback remains invaluable to us. We invite you to continue sharing your thoughts and suggestions as we navigate this new phase in the game's evolution.
Another important point that arose from the data is that the Android version of the game is the most played. However, it also poses a challenge as it requires the most resources. For instance, not everyone living in Brazil owns a PC or the latest smartphone, which makes the game inaccessible to some potential players.
Therefore, Selenyhr and I are now considering the future of the game and the direction it will take. The goal is not to earn more money, but to sustain this project and all future ones.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, and I'll be glad to answer them.
P.S: The release of version 0.8 remains unaffected by these changes, and we're still on track to launch this update in the autumn, as planned.

I'm doing my part!
So will this game be offered on patreon (for a certain fee) or only on itchio?
I found this game on Tik Tok if I remember correctly, and it was easier to find pirate sites than any official ones when googling the name. I did download one, and tried to find more. I tend to support other similar creators on patreon and decided to do the same with this game. I really hope more people find it in them to support the game, it is one of, if not the, best games I've played. I do play it on Android, so I'm glad there's support for that.
Good move, I have no problems with your decision. Been absolutely loving it. The amount of content, craftsmanship, and passion that's went into this game is astounding. Whatever you charge, I'm sure that it'll be worth every penny.
I've been supporting this game since it won best Adult game a couple of years ago on some Discord server beating out some well-known and established titles. I love how far this game has come and will continue to support it.
i've got no issues with the changes and will continue to support the game. you gotta do what you gotta do
Aren't there blockchain encryption systems you can add to reduce this? Just set up so a verified purchase or patreon account get a unique identifier code token and lock the sex scenes image files and/or text files behind encryption that needs the code. It wouldn't be resource intensive since you don't need hash-miners(it isn't a currency). This would also prevent patreon leaks because each code is unique. A pirate can't make one patreon and release a limitless number of codes.
Considering the quality and effort put into this game, I really hope you guys will figure out a way to limit the piracy going forward. I'm not to familiar with anti-piracy systems so I can't really offer any suggestions. Either way, I'll support you all the best I can.
dude that sucks.... ill support you guys no matter what
thank you sir!
I still think having it on sale on steam would be the game chnager. Is it possible to appeal the ban? Like, steam allowed game to have sex with hitler; they should have a pretty low bar...
unfortunately no
some games use patreon account to log in. you can imitate them.
Valid decisions
93% is crazy. you deserve more support than that. there are so many large adult games creators that scam their supporters. wish people would use their money on developers like you
Bonjour, désolé d'apprendre cette situation. J'avais acheté le jeu sur itch.io, je viens donc de m'abonner. Bon courage !
ive been supporting you since almost the beggining of the game amd will continue to do so. whatever path you decide to take ill finincially support the as much as i can.
Hopefully Android doesn't become the primary version, i have a new smartphone sure but i strictly only play this game on PC. That being said this is hands down the best H game I've ever played/been invested in so I might up my sub as long and the PC version is something that will continue to happen.
I will never understand steams criteria for allowing a game to actually be on their service. This game is quite literally tame compared to a bunch of other crap that actually gets on there.
I've been supporting you since November of last year I will support you guys to the end and likely up my patron membership tier.
I think the problem with piracy is leading more and more to developers completely pre-financing their games via crowdfunding platforms. The game will not be released until it is finished. Piracy cannot be circumvented in this way, but the complete risk remains with the customer and not with the developer. It's a shame that small developers in particular have to suffer enormously from piracy. In the meantime, I recommend anyone who installs copy protection in their game. But as long as platforms like f95Zone existing, this will never change. Man's greed and stupidity, alas, is insatiable. No matter what you decide, I will continue to support you.
Pirating sucks, but yeah it's hard to tell how bad it is as a consumer. But I certainly don't plan to go anywhere and will support more if it means keeping the project alive.
Been supporting you guys since I first found it in the earlier stages and will continue my support here. Hadn't had time to play any of the updated versions due to lack of time. Always the bad apples ruining things.
Thank you so much sir
I was sort of expecting this to happen. Did not realise just how badly the piracy is and I do not blame the decision at all. It is interesting that the demo is to 0.7.9 as that is a lot of top quality content and with the amount of support shown in the server alone I am confident will get more people hooked later down the line. You guys are outstanding developers and with being in the top 10 of the server shows that the server is the one I am most active on. I am glad to be able to talk to each of you and ask questions if need be and once I got my job I should be able to go up a tier in Patreon. Just keep up the good work
This measure was put in place to see the extent of piracy, and in a way we haven't been disappointed.
I bought it👍
The G.O.A.T is here
Sadly, you guys arent the first group ive backed to make this kind of decision, but i plan on continuing my support, i also support the decision you all had made, and hope for the best for all of you
We've already found some interesting ideas, thank you for your support.
