When Jake started saying Caviezel would have quit the Noah movie if he got lost on a boat midst filming I almost had a panic attack, NO he didn’t quit Passion when he was struck by lightning!! How could you forget such lore. But you turned it around Jakey boy. + yes I am insane for having listed to Cavortex ep probably 7 times by now

I don't know how you can have solidarity with the working class by not even doing your minimal work podcast job. The idea of the movie ending with Ham or whoever fucking Noah on the beach is the funniest thing I've ever heard
I elected instead to watch 'Singles' (1992), which had no violence or CGI in it whatsoever and was thoroughly enjoyable.
Oh hell yes, I HATE Aronofsky movies, he's a hack who sucks, but this movie DID have the coolest 10 seconds of any movie of that year with samurai armor Anthony Hoppkins nuking the nephilim with the flaming broadsword
Following up now that i'm listening to the episode, to answer Julian at 22:20 me and my buddy saw this in theaters cause we were assuming that it was gonna be a modern version of the old Hollywood Bible Epics where they were able to get away with all the blood and violence and nudity by going 'it was in the bible' and were making Noah into a sort of Swords and Sandals Conan fantasy movie with apocraphal bible lore in it

As an ex-Christian who likes weird Bible and Bible-adjacent lore I really dug seeing the Noah story as a fantasy movie. My dream would be to see a follow-up based on the Book of Enoch depicting things like the chained-up stars imprisoned in the underworld for not following the path through the sky God made for them and other trippy things like that.
I will say that the depiction of the Watchers in this movie is one of my least favorite parts. In the Book of Enoch they are not killed by humans, but are cursed by God to watch all their half-angel/half-human nephilim children die and then be chained by the archangels in the underworld until the apocalypse.
So excited for Jake to appear on Knowledge Fight Country. Especially since those eps are well over 2 hours so far. AND Jake/Dan both love tangents?? I hope its a 3+ hrs ep lol

I loved this movie so much. It was fucking bonkers. I’ve NEVER bothered to watch it again. The image of the guy picking up whole animals and just chomping down has fueled me through COVID.

The characterised as good guys or at least well meaning was a surprise twist for me. Normally they’re conflated with Satan and his shenanigans.

Thanks for doing this. Watched this movie in theaters when it came out and did my "homework" and re watched it tonight. Completely different movie that I remembered. Happy to hear Jake's takes.
I remember this movie coming out, I was 18 finally getting away from church after loosing faith at 15. I remember my gf at the time making fun of me for being religiously offended, while I was like “it’s not the blasphemy, it’s just wtf was that story?? That’s not Noah’s ark, someone stowing away on the ark and Noah going on the hunt for his own family is just… who is this movie for????”
Honestly given how the conspiracist-Christian milieu has grown since 2014 I have to begrudgingly say it was ahead of its time.
Jake, The Fountain was the FIRST good Arronofsky film you thought of? Not Pi? Mother was so over the top it was hilarious. I literally died laughing during the baby scene.
I’d love to hear thoughts on Pi. Obsessively looking for patterns, paranoia, kick ass soundtrack, makes math seem almost as cool as Donald Duck learning about the golden triangle, etc. Or Hackers because DUH.
Life Of Brian is the only biblical film worth watching. Or The Apple, but that’s another story.
Darren does have an *aesthetic* that is very "a dumb man's idea of Artistic" while being nonetheless Artistic. The removal of Enoch 1-3 is single-handedly responsible for reducing conversion & retention rates to monotheism by as much as 265% Had they kept them in there's no Protestantism, heck no Great Schism.

I took a very Catholic girl on a date to see Noah when it was in theaters by her choice. She was hyped, I was meh. By the time we got out of the movie, I was like, "Whoooah, cooooool" and she was ready to report it to the Spanish Inquisition
Im with ya Jake i love this movie. I saw this, movie about a year into not being a Christian anymore. I was raised as a young earth creationist, so when I saw the evolution scene my mind was kinda blown. That being said all criticisms leveled by dan are valid. I just thought it was cool looking film for 2014
