Life Updates 9/30
Hey all,
Hope you’ve been well. It’s been ages since I’ve made a post here. Thank you to everyone who has continued supporting me over the last year!
UnOrdinary Season 3 started up at the end of July.. kinda crazy how it’s been two months already. Time goes by so fast ;w; The first set of episodes were pretty chill, setting up the overall mood of the newest season, and now we’re approaching the real action! Episodes 357+ are some of the longest and proudest episodes I’ve ever made, so I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do! 🙂

Hiatus and life updates:
As many of you know, I took a year-long hiatus after the end of Season 2 (July 2024). I was so incredibly burnt out from working so vigorously since late-2021. For the first two months, I could hardly pick up a pen, and just the thought of having to write or draw again made me break down in tears. My health was at such a low point that it took me over half a year to start working out again, and fully repair my relationships with friends and family.
During my time away, I decompressed and thought about my life situation…and I came to the conclusion that I really can’t push myself so hard anymore. Even now, I’m still so worried about my health, and I’m even more terrified that I'll regress back to my old lifestyle.
Before, when friends ask what my schedule was like, I’d laugh and say that I work 8 days a week. Literally I’d work all week, then on Tuesday nights, stay up till 8am, then sleep 90 mins, and wake up again at 9:30am to finish the episode by 9pm. Over the years, I developed a chronic cough, chronic headaches and body pains, and oftentimes I wake up in the middle of the night with heart palpitations. I had been so accustomed to this lifestyle, that it took me forever to realize how harmful it was.
For the record, UnOrdinary is only required to publish 60 panels weekly, and I had been averaging 90-100+ panels. Some episodes have been x2, or x3 the length of what was required of me (120-180 panels). I’ve been doing this because my top priority has always been to make each week’s update a satisfying and memorable experience, and most times.. 100+ panels is what it takes to make the story feel like it’s moving at a good pace. But to be completely honest, every week I felt like an idiot for doing so much at my health’s detriment. The readers’ enthusiasm and reactions make up for it, but having done this for almost a decade, my body just can’t anymore, so I’ll likely have to cut back.
Over the last year, I finally got to take my time on action sequences and on properly writing the story without the weekly deadline stress, and got a full 8 hours of sleep every night. I was able to work on my books, on merch, and got to help other creators with their stories too. It was nice to not have to turn down game nights with friends because “I had to work…” Having this more manageable schedule really helped me fall in love with creating again.
Don’t worry, I’ll still do my absolute best to put out quality chapters! But I’m going to pace myself properly, so that I can actually get to the end of the story, lol. You may see a slight reduction in the length of some episodes, but that’s because I’m using the time left over to be healthy and to stay creative :D

Thank you guys for being so patient and understanding, and for supporting UnOrdinary over the years! You’ll be seeing more from me soon!

You do an awesome job! I wait much much longer for other stories with less quality in other media (TV, movies, novels). Glad you have rebalanced work! We love the story, but we come here because we want to make sure that we give you well deserved support to create at whatever speed is healthy for you. Hope we can support you in continuing to create your amazing story!
Your health is so important! So glad you're finding that balance between work and life!
Please do take care of yourself! Your story and art will be just as amazing in smaller episodes. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Proud of you for prioritizing yourself, and in awe of your vulnerability. Thanks for all you do ❤️ YOU have created one of the most iconic webtoons of all time. We are here for YOU.
Love you! Glad to hear your prioritizing your health ❤️🔥💝
Best wishes! I hope you keep finding all your joy, dedication, and life balance without being self-destructive. It's possible, you have to keep doing it, but much of it will keep getting easier!
Happy that you are taking care of yourself! Keep it up, we don't mind you focusing on yourself, you do too much for us!! Thank you for all your hard work and for being so open with your community!
Take your time! We love your work, and know that you put a lot of hard work into what you do.
That’s absolutely fine you take your time to rest!! No one will be upset at you for wanting to stay healthy even if that means a slight reduction in chapter length. We all would rather you be healthy and happy with shorter episodes than sickly and depressed with longer episodes
This series is worth the wait. If you need to break from UnOrdinary, please do so. Your health is more important and when you come back your series is still the best one imo! Thanks for the updates as always!
You deserve all the rest and happiness in the world. Thanks uru-chan!

Thank you for being open about your experience. It must've been so hard to work on unordinary while sacrificing so much of yourself, but I (and many others) am happy that you took the hiatus to work on yourself first and foremost!!! I've loved every chapter you've published, and I've been ecstatic to read every update for season 3 so far too!! I hope you continue to take care of yourself, spend time with friends and family, and not be afraid to take more hiatuses if you ever feel like you're overworking yourself. You have our support 💚💚🥹
