Haha yeah, Baxter is indeed going to be the planner for the wedding with Qiu and/or Tamarack. It can't be helped. He would throw his non-existent wedding planner license in the trash if some other person got that job. He’s still very dramatic.
Though, don't worry, it's not another unexpected turn of events. Baxter appears in the normal version of Step 4 no matter what. 25-year-old B-Man is a brave boy who can make an effort to reach out to people he'd like to talk to (plus his parents spend most of their time on business trips or vacations and aren't hanging around that small town). The boy's club is getting back together with the (potentially) only person in it who is still a boy. Hallelujah.

I'm adding this little update to note that if you're worried this means the Wedding DLC will be just like the OL1 one, that's not the case. You won't be sitting in an office with Baxter and going through the steps in a formal way. Baxter will be a far more casual presence, the planning will be done in the family homes, and other people will still get to be involved. For example, if you're marrying Tamarack and are very close with Qiu, I'm not going to suddenly sideline the other lead and pretend they're not there. In that situation, Qiu will still be involved with the wedding planning for the MC and Tamarack. And the parents and stuff will be around, too.

I happen to adore him as a character, and I like the way he ties both games together. I couldn't really picture anyone else planning the wedding in OL2; it just wouldn't feel right.

I just finished Baxter's route today (the second time) and been thinking that it would be nice if he would be able to patch up his old friendships in his hometown as well. This post made me incredibly happy! 😊 I didn't anticipate liking him so much but here we are, lol.
Gods I'm so late but BAXTER yes!!! Now I can continue my hc that by the time he comes to golden glove he's in a happy relationship with my MC (either married or engaged it's not set in stone yet) and he has he's new friends from sunset bird. Just a happy fulfilling life for my absolute favourite boy 💜

This makes me so happy because honestly there's no better planner than him but I'm also kinda sad for him since he liked Qiu even if at that point he's most likely over it. Either way it genuinely makes me happy that he's going to be the one helping with making the wedding preparations again even if obviously it makes sense he would be the one doing it XD Still, I can't wait, it's really nice to see more of him and I'm genuinely really happy for this, so much that I keep repeating myself and I don't know how to explain it so I'll stop XD

I will be honest: While I like Baxter as a character, I am not happy about this. The white man has gotten more screen time than any OL character and the fanbase around him has fetishized and sexualised him (Even in his step 1-2 selves horribly) in such an over-saturated sense that I doubt they actually like him for his real personality over this fanon one I've seen. I was really hoping he wouldn't play a part in the wedding, maybe he calls or something, just a smaller role. I feel like the only reason he has one now is because of those fan's being loud about it. People can respond to this but just know that I really don't want to fight, this is just the reality that I've seen while being in the private server for almost two years now.
Baxter's story is that he's from Golden Grove and wants to come back and he's also a wedding planner, this was the plan before Baxter's DLC even existed. It's always been how it was gonna go. It'd be leaving loose ends not to do it based on everything that happened with Baxter's story and Qiu's/Tamarack's/Renee's. I wanted a character who could tie the games together and Baxter was the only lead option who had a life that could provide that. I personally like Cove and Derek more than Baxter, but there was no way to fit them into the role of "person who grew up in the other game's town". But no one has to play the wedding DLC if they don't like Baxter. I'm not trying to change your mind, just making it clear that this was my intention for the OL series. It's not a mistake or pivot, it's been my end game from the earliest development period.

Gosh I adore him. It be so nice if there was an option for dialogue for him to talk about his own relationship back in Cali. I know the logistics would be too difficult but it would make my heart flutter.
We'll see what we can do, but there's no guarantee on what specifically he'll mention from OL1 yet. That game will be mentioned at least a little, though.

Having him as an option to plan ur wedding might be nice but I feel like it wont work for a lot of people's MCs. I like Baxter and all but it feels like he's got to be involved in everything, hes practically got more sprites than COVE, and like some people were saying if you don't have a good relationship with him it makes little sense to choose him as your planner. Having him as an optional guest like Shiloh and Jeremy feels more align with his role in OL2.
ol2 still has tons of time and opportunities (i hope) for more moments between Baxter and ol2 MC for them to grow closer and have a more solid bond. so him being our wedding planner feels more natural and like reuniting with an old friend.

I'll be honest, I would rather have not had him as the wedding planner this time around. I understand why he is but I honestly think the idea of a community-designed/DIY wedding would've been more fitting and a lot more interesting as a concept. Plus, as others have mentioned before, he already gets a lot of attention in these games already. Even before this, he was the LI who appears in the most Steps at 5 and now he's appearing in yet another one. It sort of feels like he's stealing the spotlight a little and, as someone who prefers the other LIs, that bothers me a lot

Is there… any way that we can not have him there? I know it sounds the opposite of everyone else, but I don’t *want* him at the wedding as a planner. A guest, at most. I thought it would be more fun to throw a makeshift/not planned one. He’s got so much time in all the games already, and if he and Tama/Mc aren’t friends, I’m not sure why he would show up for their wedding anyway.
No, there isn't a way to do that. Baxter is a character in the game, he's part of the story and the lead's lives/history. He has to come back in Step 4 to make things complete and Qiu/Tam are his friends again then. He's also a wedding planner. For most players, it wouldn't make sense that he wasn't the planner for his friends' wedding. And I'm afraid I can't write an entirely different version of the wedding DLC where he's not the planner for those who didn't prefer that. But I understand how now everyone will want it to be that way and I'm not trying to change your mind. It's just what I decided to do for the game. Baxter would've had to never be a part of Golden Grove for him not to end up as the planner, and I wanted to connect the games through someone. Baxter was the best character to do that and it's been planned since early in OL1.

Oh :( not to be that person but it’s the first time i’m sort of unhappy about a news update. I love baxter but regarding the wedding i would have loved to just have him as a guest, he appears enough in the other dlc and in general in both games, ( if you combine the two he has a really visible presence…) a new character for the planner could have been nice.
I mean he does his job good in the wedding dlc good that not the part i’m sort of sad about, it’s more about the fact that despite me liking him i just am a bit tired to see him in sort of spotlight ( appear in 4 steps for olnf + wedding dlc, appear in 3 steps for olba + his dlc + wedding dlc ) that quite a lot and a more minor role would have been great.

And since this is 25 year old Baxter, it's been a year since Step 4 of OL1 so he's definitely doing better as a person and I am looking so forward to the reunion of old friends I wonder if this Baxter will talk or reference his new squad of friends in California, maybe even talk about the OL1 MC and how they've helped him grow as a person.
