If you let people speak at your wedding the last one to talk will be the first person you met in the game. I can't believe this is the last full Cove DLC in the works. Thanks for everything Clifford, you're a nice dad 😢 .

My first real playthrough with this game, I went a whole 'found family' thing, not really all that fitting since the main character has a family, but upon learning of their adoption, I decided that family was going to be important to them. I took every chance to lean in when the game gave me an option to mention the idea of family, being/becoming family with the Holden family. If you spill the beans about you and Cove liking each other, Cove gets embarrassed, but Cliff is pleased, mentioning a Holden-[player character last name] clan. I liked that. I purposed to Cove at the end of step 3, and in step four you get the chance to call Cliff dad. I choked up at that. (Cove purposing is sweeter, but you don't have the option to call him dad unless you're already engaged) I think it's so fitting that at the wedding to his son, he's the last to give a speech. He thought he was helping his boy with a $20 bribe, but he ended up helping both his son and my character. There is a rightness to it all. It was thanks to him my character found Cove, and I think he's the best dad either of us could have asked for; even if he needs a stylist, he's still great. I can't wait to see what he says, and if I can say anything about his ill conceived, bribe that set everything in motion.
Ok the fact that he's the first one to speak actually make me tear up a little. Joke asides of him being attractive which is a common joke in the fandom, I consider Cliff as a kind of friend/dad and I love the fact that he's the last one to speak, it feels like it's kinda more important. I mean, every character of course is important but it's thanks to Cliff that everything started and it's really nice, heartwarming and a bit sad that he's the one to end it and now I'm starting to realize how sad it will be once this experience with Cove will end, but not in a bad way. It's sad but also really nice, I don't really know how to explain myself XD
Bittersweet, but you can lean into the sweet of it rather than the bitter.

I never really had a proper father figure so I admire Cliff a lot, especially after listening to his and Kyra's stories of their marriage in step 3. I like how realistic their relationship is, and that no one was the bad guy, it was just them both being so young and unprepared. I can't wait for my surrogate dad to be able to speak at the wedding <3

I'm so glad that that dork tried to pay our MCs $20 to be his kid's friend. He really set us up to roast him for it (in a loving way) for the rest of our lives.
The scene in his speech if you didn't tell Cove about that is hilarious to me. Man is so surprised you kept it a secret he wants to give you more money. He is a dork- and that's why we love him.
My MCs always thought of him as a surrogate father, so it was cool to actually call him 'Dad' at Stage 4, when my character was engaged (and married, before I found out that Cove and the MC can't be married to use the Wedding DLC) to Cove.
I just hope that in OL2, if there's a Wedding DLC, our characters could 'Renew Our Vows' as an option if the situation ends up being the same as OL1. After all maybe the characters decided to elope, and waited until they had the money later to throw a big shindig with full guest list.

Aw, this is very sweet ♡ I wasn't so sure about Clif when I first started the game but he really is pretty great.
