I never played the original game but can the mc be asexual in this game? And in the original can she be friends with the guys without having to romance any of them?
In the original XOXO Droplets you can choose to not romance anyone officially. But the MC is flirtatious and clearly interested in landing a boyfriend. XOXO Reunion automatically has her in a romantic relationship. You're able to skip or avoid sexual scenes, but again, the MC is vocally interested in all that. The MC of the XO series can't be played as asexual, the best you can do with her is just trying not to see those parts. The routes will be sold separately, so if you're interested you could get only the Bae Pyoun route. Since he is actually asexual the MC tones her usual highly forward attitude for his sake. And it's possible to be entirely non-romantic and asexual in Floret Bond and Our Life.

Bae was ace back in high school too, he tells the MC his situation in the tunnel of love date. He really wants to get married and be a daddy, but he isn't interested in the physical part of a relationship. The plan for his future family is to use artificial insemination or adoption.
