GB Patch Patreon Model Update
Hey everybody! There’s a major update coming to Patreon as a whole that’s going to change how GB Patch’s tiers work as well. Patreon is retiring the model of subscribing for a specific month. Instead, future memberships will exclusively charge people on the day they joined, whatever that day is. If you join on the 30th of a month, you’d get charged on the 30th of the next month (unless the next month is February, then you’d get charged on the 28th).
I’m going to make the switch October 1st, 2026.
On November 1st any Patreon account who hasn’t moved over will do so automatically. I want to do it early to have everything settled before November while also doing it on the 1st of a month. That’ll make it a fresh start for those who have the current subscription model.
Existing members will continue to be billed on the first of each month. If you want to change to the new model once it’s active, you only need to cancel and sign up again on whichever day of the month you want to be charged on going forward. But, because anyone who cancels and then rejoins or any new member who joins will have this different payment model, we have to change certain perks for everyone. There isn’t a way to have tiers work one way for one model and another way for a different model.
Now, here’s everything you can expect on the GB Patch Patreon beginning next month:

Beta Builds:
Historically, every month a new OL2 beta would become available, usually near the end of the month. We are still going to aim for a new beta each month, however, the beta that’s included in your tier is whichever beta that was playable the day you were charged.
Members should usually gain access to a newer beta within their subscription time period, but there’s a chance that, based on when you join, there won’t be a brand-new beta before your next payment period.
Basically, there's a beta each month and you get that, but players shouldn't expect to get another beta in the next month even if their subscription goes into another month.
Example: Your subscription is charged on the 25th of a month. When you join you get access to a beta that came out on the 20th of that month — that would be your perk. Maybe a beta would come out on the 21st of the next month and you’ll gain access to another beta, or it might come out on the 26th and you’d have to subscribe for another month to get that one. We would still consider your perk met because you had access to the beta from the 20th.

OL1 Bonus Moments:
The Step 3 and Step 4 bonus moments will no longer be able to swap availability on the lower tier from month to month. I’m going to put the Step 4 Wedding Night Bonus Moment as a Tier 2 perk and it will stay there. To gain access to the Step 3 Bonus Moment, you’ll need to be on Tier 3 or higher. And everyone who is on Tier 3 or higher will also gain access to the Step 4 Wedding Night Bonus Moment.
I decided to put the Step 4 bonus content on the lower tier because the Step 3 Moment has been out longer, more people already have it, and because October would’ve been the month where it was on the lower tier. Some players have been waiting for that in order to get it at the lower cost. This means September is the last month to get the Step 3 Bonus Moment by subscribing to Tier 2. I am sorry for that.

Monthly Polls & Q&As:
These aren’t changing! The guest art, emote polls, and Q&A question periods are always on or around the same days of the month. With the specific month subscription model, members would miss those if they joined late in a month. Now you should always get those perks whether it be the month you join or in the next month but before you’re charged again.
Example: Your subscription is charged on the 25th of a month. The monthly polls/Q&As have already ended for that month. However, in the first and second weeks of the next month, you can participate and still cancel your next coming charge on the 25th.

Top Tier Monthly Gift:
This should not change either, but if there are unexpected issues there could be tweaks. The Tier 5 bonus Moment gift is always posted on the 2nd of a month and removed on 1st of the next month. So, whenever someone is charged, they should be able to grab the bonus perk during the month they join or the next month before they’re charged again.

Um so I paid for beta access on the kickstarter and use the tip jar/tier 1 subscription on patreon as a beta update notification system, am I still going to see those new beta notifications to remind me to check itch.io or do I need to set reminders on my calendar at the end of each month?
So to clarify, as long as I remain subscribed I should keep getting the new beta drops without issue?
Yes! There's a beta each month and you get that, but no player should expect to get another beta in the next month even if their subscription goes into another month.

Yeah, nothing really changes about how everything goes unless you're a new member or a lower tier member.

You'll definitely get to play a new beta because you won't be charged until the 1st of a new month and a beta always comes at some point during a month. Even if it comes out on the 30th, you won't have be charged again yet.
So should I wait until later in the month to make sure I have access to everything? From my understanding of this new update
It depends. There will always be the same types of perks happening. if you join late than you'll get access to the perks that had already come out for that month and then the perks that come out early in the next month. Or you could get early in a month and get access to the perks all in that one month as they come out.
I am a little confused as well. Per the example for the betas, if you subscribe on the 25th and the beta comes out *after* that date, you don't receive it. So does that mean that everyone has to change their subscription dates from the 1st to the end of a month to ensure they receive the betas now?
No, the example was referring to the 26th of the NEXT month, if you start your sub on the 25th, it will last exactly until the 25th of the next month, if a beta is then released on the 26th after it expires, you wouldn't recieve it. The same is true at the end of the month. If you subscribe on the 30th, and it expires the 30th of the next month, you wouldn't recieve a beta that came out the first after it expires. If you maintain your subscription indefinitely it shouldn't matter
I will be honest I am not fond of these changes, so if I get billed on the 20th and the beta comes out on the 22nd I need to wait an entire month before I can play it?
No, if you get billed on the 20th, your membership will need to be renewed the 20th of the next month, rather than the first. If you have a consistant sub it doesn't change anything, but if you only subscribe for a month, you'll only get the content through the 20th of the next month
I'm a bit confused, why exactly are the bonus monents changing? And why is the older one the higher tier? Why not just bundle both moments into 1 tier reward?
The two bonuses are bundled in every tier that's 3 or higher. There was always just one on the lower tier. The bonus that's on the lower tier is now always going to be the same. That's changing because the point was that you could join for one month to get one bonus on a lower tier or you could join at a higher tier and get both. But now if we switched which bonus was on the lower tier, new players would get both bonuses on the lower tier because they likely won't have all joined on the 1st of the month. If someone's subscription on a lower tier lasts from the 10th of one month to the 10th of the other and we switched the bonuses on the 1st of the month, they could download the bonus on the 10th and the second bonus on the 1st of the next month. It'd be unfair to start essentially giving away both bonuses on the lower tier when in the past you needed to be on Tier 3 or higher to get both bonuses in one subscription period. I don't want to add a new tier specifically for these bonuses because that'd mean taking away part of the perk of Tier 3, which was getting both in one subscription.
