OL2: Beta Build 1.4.20 📝 (PC, Mac, Android)

Another beta has arrived. I do want to say right away that playtime-wise this is shorter than we usually do. Things have been developing, though. There's fundamental fixes and QoL improvements in this build. We're also at point where things are stable enough for us to hire a new programmer to help implement scripts! Nobody new has joined the team just yet, but going forward we'll hopefully have even bigger updates than usual.

Screenshots can't be posted, videos can't be uploaded, even discussing what occurs in the events publicly is not allowed and will get your access to future builds revoked.
You can do all of those things within the private GB Patch Discord server or leave your feedback as a comment.

And since we've had some problems in the past with so many people downloading beta builds that they get locked out by Google Drive, I've uploaded mirror builds! If the first ones listed don't work, you can try these.

Or you can bypass the quota by logging in to a Google Drive account, then on the file's download page, click "Add shortcut to Drive" in the upper right corner. Save it to your Drive, then create a new folder, put it inside, and download the folder!
Save files from the prior beta should work in this beta!

I was wondering, during the lunch scene, is it meant to be a storm cloud background?
Loving this beta so much! Potential feedback: I played Colorful Class before Home and my MC got to reply to Qiu's silent confession, which of course he (adorably) doubled down on. However, when choosing to go home with Qiu, the MC wonders if Qiu likes sitting in the middle seat or her. Since that is confirmed that he does like her back, perhaps instead of "Or did he like you?" it should be "Or was it because he liked you?" Just to complete the feedback choice loop. :) Doing a fab job as always!

Finally played the new update and Ren failing to be friendly with Vianca made me so sad. My poor girly 😭. Also as someone with autism I like that we can react pretty badly to our mom suddenly changing plans as sudden change sucks, especially for me and my fellow autistics. The detail about school being a sensory nightmare was also nice
Bro, I made my MC have a crush on step 2 Ren because I thought it’d be an interesting dynamic but low-key I think I’m starting to form a crush on Ren cause I can’t stop thinking about him 😭

DUDE qiu’s reaction to the mc joining the astronomy club was so freaking cute and such a small little detail that made such a huge difference (i assume it only applies if the mc has made a promise about the shooting stars in step one, but OMG MY HEART 😭❤️)

Vianca is super interesting just from what little of her we’ve seen already, from reading the bio post on her I can’t wait to see what other interactions (equally dismissive as her first one or otherwise lol) she can have with a male or predominately-male MC.

Been meaning to ask for a while about the feature to "turn off transitions" and which kind that means? Otherwise, really hyped how this game is coming along little by little
I don't know for certain everything it will turn on/off in the final version. It removes UI animations though.
Poor Ren, I look forward to the day she comes into her own. I agree with MC who dislikes Vianca for blanking anyone who identifies as a boy.

I was replaying earlier parts of the game and kept getting black screen flashes and some error messages that I ignored before the game itself suddenly crashed. Specifically I was in the Step 1 prologue portion where the kids are talking about the boys' club in the classroom. I've played that section of the game lots of times before and this has never happened until now, so it seemed important to point out even if it's so far back in there!
Were you loading a file from an earlier beta? Sometimes older saves don't work with the most recent beta. If you started a brand new file in this version of the beta, could you let me know what the error messages said?
Forgot to say there is a bug after Vianca asks about player pronouns like Blue said. It let me keep playing when I pressed ignore, it just won't let me load back to that point and skips whatever was supposed to be there, can load before that point and after it just fine. Am on android version don't know about other versions. Honestly I was too hyped to care, I forgot until Blue said something XD This is so much more and I am so excited.

Great update! Just wanted to say, I got an error popup after Vianca asked about my pronouns (my mc is trans). I was able to ignore it and proceed without any more issues but i figured you'd want to know.

Adding another comment here to say, thanks for all the hard work! Brief it may have been but it was nice seeing Vianca enter the plot and see all the school-aged friends pop up. Looking forward to finally going to the diner and completing the tradition a la Step 1. It reminds how in Step 1, the MC notices there are a group of teens in a booth sharing pancakes and now WE'RE the teens in the booth potentially impressing some young youth eating with their family with our maturity
