Well, Vianca makes a strong first impression, haha. And what a nickname concept!
Side note, this scene won't go just like this if the MC has changed their identity at the start of S2. Ms. Vianca will need to speak with MC about that immediately.

“Yeah, she said Tamarack’s name wrong on purpose. Vianca met your neighbor in 6th grade, when Tamarack was a little wilder. Vianca had never, ever let that go, much to Tamarack’s embarrassment.”
“[Funnily/Unfortunately], Tamarack found the thought of asking Vianca to stop calling her that even more humiliating.” #if rude or teasing or neither

“Tamarack did her best literal “tamarack” act- still and silent. Put that girl in a forest and she’d fit right in with the trees she was named after.”
via “What? Have you been hiding from me? We’re friends.”
“The accusation didn’t strike as an ax, more like the sharp fragility of glass. It’d sooner hurt Vianca than the people it was pointed at.”

“Vianca was Riverview’s “gals’ girl”, she collected female friends as a fulltime gig. All someone had to do to ruin her day was one- be a lady and two- brush Vianca off.”

tam “Mm, no. I haven’t- not on purpose. We must not have anything nearby, and I didn’t want to bother you by showing up out of nowhere on the busiest day of the year!”
sen “Same. I don’t go to high school yet. Middle school’s over there.”
“Tamarack might’ve been making excuses, but Serenity was telling it as it was. They twisted around to look towards her side of the building. Vianca released Serenity to cross her arms again.”
via “You are so nice.”
“She opened her eyes again, barely.”
via “But you can bother me. You should bother me.”
“Vianca jabbed a finger toward Tamarack like you were about to witness a shakedown in the middle of the school hall.”
via “That’s what friends are for.”
“She punctuated it with a definitive stomp of the foot. In those ways, Vianca reminded you of how Tamarack used to be.”
“What was most incredible about that was Vianca probably got those little quirks from copying Tamarack herself, when she had done them the most.”
“Calling her “Tam-attack” wasn’t the only thing Vianca had held onto. You recalled Vianca being more reserved, restricted, when you’d first met.”
“Tamarack out-grew stamping her boots and sticking her hand in people’s faces, most of the time, when it came to strangers anyway, but a history of it stayed alive in the people she influenced with it.”

I feel like she's SO entertaining as a character cause everyone has known a Vianca once in middle school and I look forward to her interactions. Unfortunately, my sometimes girl MC won't like her pushiness towards Tamarack (and I was territorial as a girl with my best friends in middle school) and WILL brush her off

I’m really looking forward to how this will impact my MC’s relationship with her! They start step 2 rejecting the female aspect of their personality so that’ll be… potentially really interesting!
Honestly I love the parallel that if you are a girl you will be "distanced" and ignored in Step 1 and in Step 2 the same happens for boys too, that's fair in my opinion and will make for fun/interesting moments since I didn't have that in Step 1 as a boy XD Edit: Also while I don't hate Vianca, I'm definitely going to be a jealous little gremlin (in the platonic way) with Tamarack, usually I would do I wasn't jealous and Tam wasn't either, but now I am of her trying to steal my friend so I will definitely change that XD Also I will be a clingy little sh*t (not sure I can say it here, I'm so used to have to censor everything) and rub it in her face even if I'm technically the shy/quiet kid XD I was really jealous in Middle school (not in the unhealthy way though, thank God) about friends and crushes so it's actually more fitting like this, but I won't be as vocal with Qiu, just with Tam XD
Ahh I love her already, but then again I love when characters bring in drama. I feel like neither of my two existing MCs would get along well with Via, so it'd be cool to make a third character who would love being a part of her girl's troop.
Based on the comments, she's definitely a divisive character so far... I don't think I like her, personally, but that at least in part depends on how much Tamarack actually minds the nickname and whether Vianca is aware of that.

Vianca makes her grand appearance, I’m getting Step 1 Lizzie vibes! Tam-attack is a cute nickname, I wanna know the backstory!!! But if Tamarack really doesn’t like being called that, I hope we can encourage her to say something or speak up for her!
I'd rather be in Qiu's Step 1 club than Vianca's Step 2 group. Qiu was open to inviting Tamarack and the MC (regardless of who the MC was), and while there was some teasing, it was a friendly sort of teasing. If the MC asks Tamarack if her parents died while getting to know her in the Step 1 Prologue, Qiu thinks the MC was being rude to Tamarack. Vianca, on the other hand, ignores the MC if not was at least not partially a girl, and has a meaner streak to her teasing (though I don't know if she's aware of how abrasive she's being by continuing her nickname for Tamarack "Tam-attack").
That's true but it's also not that different from what Ren did, obviously it's not as drastic as this because Qiu has the final say about his boy club, but Ren and Baxter are still quite rude and "fake", so I wouldn't say she's any different, although they react negatively to you for different reasons. Obviously I'm not trying to make you like her by force, the game is meant to be your experience after all. I just think it's too early to say anything because she's not the only one ignoring or disliking you because you are a boy and not a girl, since Ren was like that too, Baxter was trying to be nice because Qiu told him too, Ren too, but they always have a reason to dislike you (be it your gender or general jealousy) the difference is she's the leader rather than the club member like Ren or Baxter, so to me I don't feel that offended because either way she's not the first one to be rude based on your gender or simply existing.
My MC is so impulse I don't know how he'd react unless he's there in the moment. I think he wouldn't really care on one hand, because he has Qiu, Serenity and Tam, and he's French and has too big of an ego to crack easily. On the other hand he's VERY blunt as well and would probably tell her off for one thing or another. I'm excited hehe.

It will be interesting to se how she reacts to my male mc she strikes me as someone who`s not easily intimidated it`s in her favor beacuse he`s 6`2 in step 2 lol
ohh I didn't expect to learn that Vianca somewhat modes young Tama! Vianca always struck me as more confidently outspoken (and, personally, sorta intimidating ;-; ) But thats really interesting! I'm glad Tamarack has a friend like her. She needs people who can help boost her up, and who she can be there for in return, during these troubling years.
If mc came out at the beginning of the step as a non girl would she still be rude to mc? Since she would've known them as a girl before? 🤔

If you started out as a partial girl and haven't come out to her as a boy(and/or nonbinary but 0% girl) yet, would she react with the 1st or the second reaction? Would she have been friends with MC until recently and then stopped being friends as soon as they came out?

Ohh I fear I love Vianca already, she seems like a mean cliquey girl but more than that I get the impression that she's.. how do I put this. Super opinionated and blunt, and I love characters who tell it like it is and are honest

Yessss I'm so excited to (hopefully) meet Vianca in the next beta installment. She sounds like a riot and she's gonna be a good friend of mine. It's cool learning that part of what influences Step 2 Vianca's personality was being inspired by my wife when we were kids, can't blame her there
