OL2: Step 2 Prologue Script Preview
In Step 2, you will automatically have some school classes with the Qiu and Tamarack. But the leads who are in your homeroom are random! You might not have your buddy there with you just 'cause you're house neighbors. Don't worry, that won't make you lose many interactions. It's just another little touch that adds variety to different playthroughs.

“Homeroom Teacher: Mr. Murray, Room 28. Another Murray class. That hadn’t happened since fifth grade.”
“And it was a true “Murray”, not some other random guy with the same last name as the Mrs. Murray you knew. The only teacher Murrays in Golden Grove were a married couple with two kids.”
“You’d managed to get both before your standard education ended. Some people in town said that was good luck, others… didn’t. Some would wish you the very best in your time of hardship.”

“You turned your paper towards Qiu to show them.”

“[Qiu] spoke distantly, despite being a whole two feet away.”

I like that randomized opportunity to give variation I remember dying inside when I didn’t have my only friend in school being in the same classes as me
Manifesting my MC and Tam being in the same homeroom... And by manifesting I mean getting the save/load ready bc I will take all Tamarack crumbs I can possibly get 😂😂
I hope there’s an alternative way to hang out before school if you don’t get your chosen friend for homeroom, but at the same time having them be jealous could be super cool drama!!
i loveee the fact that it’s random but knowing myself, i’ll probably keep restarting my save file until i get both of them lolol🤭
On that note I am curious as to when this is determined. Like is it at the start of the game, at the end of Step 1, at the start of Step 2 or right when you arrive at school?
😂 If the school is placing the trio in the same homeroom on purpose, clearly it's meant to be. That's a sign if I've ever seen it, at Qiu's and Tam's chagrin ofc (but not my mc's 😎)
I am definitely going to save scum until I get the right combination for my runs. At least, assuming the decision point isn't when you start an entirely new file.
It shouldn't be! We usually keep the randomization point pretty close by

I hope making a few save files create different chances because I honestly don't feel like doing the whole thing from the start so I hope different saves somehow make different outcomes, worst scenario I'll just restart until I get them both because I want to use the jealousy meter XD

Well homeroom isn’t too big of a deal if they don’t like each other. It’s such a small part of the day in high school. Now if they had classes together that would be a different story.

Ooooh, that's really interesting!!! I love the idea of it being random like it usually is irl! It would be so cool if the jealousy/envy mechanic somehow played into this too, but this is already nice as is 🤗‼️
OMG OMG now I kinda want to be with tam and not with qiu so that they'd be jealous and there'll be angst (I can't wait to try out every dynamic there is in the game)
