OL2: Beta Build 1.4.5 🎃 (PC, Mac, Android)
Happy Halloween! In August, haha. Today's build adds Part 1 of the Trick or Treat DLC Moment in Step 1. However, next month won't be Part 2 of this Moment. In September there's gonna be more Step 2 prologue scenes added. The full version of the Halloween event will come out in October proper.
Right now, you can only go trick or treating at the MC's house and Tamarack's house. If you go to Qiu's house the moment will end.
Also, Shawna has implemented a new feature of the Renpy engine. You can use it like so-
"On the Save screen, the Upload Sync button at the top of the screen will upload your most recent saves to the Ren'Py Sync Server. There is a size limit of 20MB, so if you've filled all your save slots, only the most recent ones will be uploaded, up to the file size limit. After syncing, you will get a code made up of letters and numbers in a format like A1B2C-3D4F5 (it is not case-sensitive, and letters and numbers can be mixed in any order). Save this code somewhere! You will only be able to sync your files using this code for up to 1 hour after upload. After you receive the code, open the Load screen on the device you want to download the synced save files to and hit Download Sync at the top of the screen. Enter the code you received earlier and hit Enter. If the code is correct, your save files should be downloaded onto your new device. You may need to close and re-open the game if you don't immediately see your save files."

Or you can bypass the quota by logging in to a Google Drive account, then on the file's download page, click "Add shortcut to Drive" in the upper right corner. Save it to your Drive, then create a new folder, put it inside, and download the folder!
Save files from the prior beta should work in this beta!

I'm having issues aaaa I have 1.4.3 and I'm trying to download but every time I get the update popup after I install the file it tells me the package is invalid :(( what am I doing wrong??
I'm sorry, you should probably delete 1.4.3 before downloading this build. That won't erase your save files!
OH MY GOD IT'S OUT🥹 (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Halloween, it's such a pity it's only one day of the year, I wish Halloween was at least a month long/cared for as much as people care for Christmas)

Maybe add a dialogue option for mc's using the typed in costume option to bring up to Qiu if It's source is from a horror work when he feels like he's the only one trying to be spoopy. That and maybe an option on whether the Mc's costume was bought, or if they made it at home. Obviously these would be for flavor text.
This moment really makes me wish for Halloween costumes in the MC dress-up page.
Same, I can understand it's definitely way too much work and they already are spoiling us a lot, but I agree it would be really cool if the outfit could actually match the costume for Halloween. I don't really know how to do a masked killer appearance when there's no mask XD But I won't complain, mostly because I don't have reasons to when the game is so great already

Nice! I love all the pumpkin choices we get! Though I will admit I can't wait for the second part of the moment! Also, as usual, some bug reports. Well, one bug report and one that I'm not sure if it's a mistake or not: - By the beginning of the moment, after thinking it's a bit hard to get character outfits in Golden Grove, I get this line: "Another reason Golden Grove was stinky. But you dealt with it." - my MC prefers the woods to town, but he doesn't hate town either, he just thinks it's normal, so I think this must be a mistake? Unless it's caused by me loading a save of course. - Back when we first visited Tamarack's home, I decided for my MC to dislike candy. Is it intended for MC's mom to only have candy to offer knowing her kid doesn't like it, or is it a bug and she should have other stuff too? There were no mentions of that in general too, so I'm unsure here.
Thanks for the report! And it is normal that Opal gets candy to hand out to other kids. Even if MC doesn't like it, the candy is for the rest of the town. She follows Halloween traditions and wouldn't want to give out non-candy things.

I'm Sobbing, it's just too cute. Every Moment that comes out seems to turn into my new favorite bc this one is my New favorite!! it's making me so nostalgic for trick-or-treating when I was a kiddo! Super excited for September and October!!!
A tiny glitch, but when Qiu asks for my MC's soul she flirts back with a "So we can be together forever? Sure!" Qiu then replies with "That's the idea! It's done. Thanks! Yours has got to be the best soul in my collection" but then the next line of dialogue he says is "Thanks! It's done. Yours has gotta be the best soul in my collection". I don't know if that's a glitch or something but if so, thought I should let you know about it.

So I have a question: I played the previous build of the beta that also gave the prologue for Step 2 and I'm curious do Qiu and Tamarack always start in the same emotional space regardless of the choices you make in Step 1 i.e. Qiu being lethargic and a bit distant while Tamarack is a bundle of nerves, I have to imagine that's an intentional narrative choice for Step 2 on your part right?
Qiu and Tamarack are always like that on the first day of school. You can't make them be happier no matter what. But in the full Step 2 prologue there are other scenes with them when they're not as unhappy.
