Christmas came early this year ?!?!

Between the 4:3 aspect ratio, the tremendous 90s filter on everything, and that *killer* Maria outfit, you really went above and beyond with this one Suzi, this whole retrospective is an absolute vibe, and frankly it might even be my favorite thing you've done so far honestly, Kudos!

Silent Hill 2 isn't just my favorite Silent Hill, but also my favorite horror story of all time. A movie length commentary on it from the best horror game commentator on YouTube is an amazing Christmas gift for the holiday season. In terms of the endings, while I think all of them are great in their own way, I personally think the Leave ending is the best fit because it's the most poetic ending: Three characters with guilt come to Silent Hill. Eddie refuses to acknowledge his guilt, and so the town pushes James into killing Eddie as punishment. Angela, while the most justified in the murder that brought her to Silent Hill, is unable to cope with what she's done, and so she presumably takes her own life as a way out of Silent Hill. The Maria ending is James following in the footsteps of Eddie, while the In Water ending is James meeting the same fate as Angela. As such, the Leave ending feels best to me because it is the one where James experiences his own proper ending that isn't just repeating the fate of another character while still learning from them. James being able to recognize he did a terrible thing but also rejecting Maria and leaving with Laura means he's both recognized his sins, unlike Eddie, but refuses to suffocate in his past, unlike Angela. Cue George Lucas saying 'It's like poetry. They rhyme.' ... But having said all that, we all know the dog ending is the best ending. Give me a cat ending, Resident Evil. I want my fight against Albert Whiskers!

Excellent video Suzi! SH2 is one of those games that I’ve never played but have watched/read endless discussions about. The way you presented it here gave the effect of experiencing it for the first time, while still laying the groundwork for a discussion of all the symbolism. I really liked the effect!

A brand new Onimusha game announcement & now this - I am officially finished this holiday season and my Ironside PC setup has been launched through the roof out of impulsive excitement.
