48:56 for context, when the Charlie Hebdo's team was slaughtered by Al-quaeda in january 2015, the team was working on the week's topic wich was how to fight racism. They were sharing ideas about how to humiliate racist people. It's still a tabloid with plenty of bad takes, but remember that half of the main team was murdered and the survivors left traumatized. One of them still has a bullet near the shoulder and can't raise his arm anymore. One of the dead was the manager in chief who used to visit schools to calmly speak with the children, in order to understand the difference between satire and bigotry. Yes, their editorial line worsened after losing their collegues/friends. They're still far less dangerous than more racist/transphobic/mainstream media like "Valeurs actuelles" or "Le Journal du Dimanche" (I know it's not a good look). And they've been urging to vote against the far-right candidates at every elections ever since. Politically speaking, Charlie Hebdo's satire would be at the left wing of South Park and at the right wing of Family guy, since they target the far-right and christianity for 80% of the time. I won't forgive the bad articles they published, but I can't put them in the same category as La Furia, Rivarol, Omerta or L'Incorrect.
I'm waiting for all the, "now that's soldiering," memes in a few episodes.
Talking about crazy French duels, during the French Restoration, a colonel and a junior officer dueled each other with daggers in a carriage that made two laps around the Place du Carrousel. The colonel won, though some sources say he died later.
CBLT merch when
5 minutes in and joe has swung and whiffed on two jokes so hard it comes back as funny lol.
You can add this under the “Wait, it gets worse” category… the Battle of Waterloo saw upwards to 40,000 men killed in a very small area. Yet archaeologists have found very few bones in the area of the battle. The accepted explanation is that over the years the locals dug up the bones and sold them to the processors of sugar beets; the juice is normally strained through crushed animal bones, it is a required step in the process to garner sugar from the beets… animal bones are expensive and have a limited supply… post Waterloo there was a surplus… Sweet…
And the teeth were used for dentures!
can't believe joe and francis just passed over shocks' earth crisis joke smdh
They play Warhammer 40k in the latest South Park season.
I watched those magnificent men and their fly machines a lot as a kid, loved it. Re watched it recently, and it holds up surprisingly well. Was glad to find out that the Japanese characters are actually Japanese actors, and it kinda goes harder on Italian and German stereotypes than anyone else. Set pre-WWI by the way.
Joe, every farm built on an indigenous burial ground is gonna be cursed. We're all living in a Last of Us type situation where the cursed corn is just getting mixed in with the rest of the corn going into the tortilla chips being served at the Super Bowl this Sunday.
This intro led me to the cursed thought that somewhere out there, a search history includes the phrase "Joe Kassabian wikifeet."
You guys are aware that you almost described The Broodwich, correct? https://youtu.be/MVfsW2sDESs/ 🤣
You mentioned James Purefoy stuff, I suggest Ironclad (2011) a great/ terrible film about the siege of Rochester Castle with Paul Giamatti rocking it as King John.
I wouldn't comment this on any of the other episodes, but I remember that in the case of this one the book was a hell of a lot better.
Its pronounced ee-numb-claw. Rhymes with GeeDumbPaw or SeeBumRaw
