And what happened then? Well, in Whoville they say that Tom's small heart grew three sizes that day
About that humanity stuff in military, have you ever seen the film JSA by Park Chan-wook? I watched the film when I was doing my national service and that certainly was an experience.
Fun fact I have one of those Nee Years Tins from the Boer War that my Grandfather gave me, has Victoria on it
A T.E. Lawrence episode or series would be great. I understand the hate, but man hated Turks so that's gotta count for something.
I look forward to Joe’s transformation into a VTuber.
His avatar is just a real slutty version of the LLBD logo with anime voice.
The Brits firing artillery at the German brass band: "FUCK YOUR OOM-PAH ASS POLKA BAND!"
Obsessed with the fact that in addition to everything else, Hitler also just straight up was the Grinch, aperantly
Match postponed due to artillery fire is so fucking funny
This is proof that anarchy is superior and hierachies ruin everything. Those soldiers should have shot the officers once they started trying to enforce discipline.
A funnier thing about the British Christmas gifts is that Princess Margaret insisted that the tins they were in were made of Brass. The sudden uptick in demand as every British soldier was expected to get one led to Brass shortages in Britain... During a war where this metal was needed for casings.
I hope you all have a great new year. Love the podcast and love learning about all the topics you cover!
Happy Xmas to everyone at the LLBD. I wanted to say that 2023 has been a challenging year for me, and even though episodes can often be dark, the quality of the information, humour, and sense of community here has really help me cope. Thanks for everything you all do. Hoping everyone has a great 2024.
More about young Hitler refusing to come play football?
I imagine the German brass ensemble getting shelled played the saddest trombones in history.
Yay it works :)
It’s been a hard year. I hope that all of us can find ways to reject authority and embrace solidarity. Merry fuckin holidays y’all.
Now all y’all go pull up “All Together Now” by The Farm on your phones, laptops etc and give it a listen. It’s all about this episode, and it’s a favorite Christmas song of mine.
And Joe, the song you were thinking about is Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus. It must have been a favorite of Jonathan Demme because he put it in the Married To The Mob soundtrack too. ✌🏼
Let me introduce you all to Takanakuy. A regional Peruvian holiday celebrated on December 25. People get together, have fun, sing and organize one on one fist fights to squash beefs. It is the day we all want Boxing Day to be.
just when i started to think that hitler couldn't get any worse
I do enjoy Xmas songs in theory. However, I do not enjoy the saturation of it. Let’s do every 3rd song WHUD is a Xmas song
Brass Against’s covers of RATM is the soundtrack to these poor soldiers
I learned about the Christmas Truce from a Garth Brooks song when I was 9. It was the same Christmas I got my copy of Animal Farm. Thanks for reminding me of a really good childhood holiday--this episode with be going on my X-mas playlist.
That composer-officer you talked about at 26:30 is the great-great grandfather of Joe’s tank officer who graduated with a music degree 🤣
Thanks, I managed to keep checking if the episode wasn't the divine wind by sonehow skipping to the unspeakable war crimes each time
Donk Milk: workout as hard as Tom before recording a podcast.
Ty papi
I wasn't having any problems with it playing but thank you for reuploading for other people. Just want to remind everybody that Joe does better research than any little weird internet story you'll find on this and his voice is amazing
Seems to be playing correctly now. Thanks for reposting this!
