Much like the house of mouse, Liam will go, but he will complain about it.
The riff on dictators in Nebraska hits different in 2025
My guy. Plata used here means silver. Argentina is derived from the Latin word for silver, argentum.
I'm aware. It was directly translated into English as "The River Plate" not "Rio De La Plata" or even "La Plata River" but "River Plate" with an E, which would not be pronouced "Plata." "River Plate" is the common translation into British English, which is the language the sources used for these episodes was in.
On the note of the Hooligans of Kandahar. It would be cool if Joe redid the audio book for it. The reading of the one on audible is awful
please....please for the love of god pronounce it "plata" and not plate I am beggin you
absolutely not
I Yay Liam quite a lot in WTYP, but I YAY LIAM during Lions.
Plata referred to in this is silver not plate. Great episode, Francia is the greatest maniacal south American dictator
Petition for Joe to get more buttons. The Soviet anthem and MLG horns are nice but there's just so many more options. "Where's your messiah now Flanders?"
Hey Joe, loved the episode! Have one little correction though: Sebastian Cabot was actually Italian (Venetian to be more precise) in the service of Spain. His father, Giovanni (more commonly known as John) Cabot is the man who was credited with discovering my home province of Newfoundland and Labrador in the service of England.
Just imagine the drunk doctor just yelling “Up yours Beetlegeuse, you pompous oversized candle. And you too Alpha-Centauri”
Oh man I’ve been waiting for you to get to this! For anyone interested Thomas Whighams two books on the Paraguayan War can be read and downloaded for free on the University of Calgary Press website - https://press.ucalgary.ca/openaccess/
Joe, thank you for keeping that drop.
Wild juggalos appear!
You have no idea how interesting this is to me as an Uruguayan, as we are constantly trying to ignore our past and involvement in this atrocity
The centrist position, and also the funniest, is that the Falkland Islands belong to the French.
Alternatively, the Falklands belong to Uruguay
"Weep Grey Bird Weep" was also a compelling and detailed work on the subject, but not even close to neutral, and I'm not sure I'd call it an academic work, but it leaned hard on the senselessness and tragedy of it all.
5 parts. Nice
