What is your take on the on the reported prevalence of hard core Pentecostal Christianity in the American military… particularly the USAF? I have read articles describing some ardent “Book of Revelation” style Christianity at their academy, and I get really uncomfortable with the idea of folks who are looking forward to the “end days” and the Rapture being in charge of all those nukes. Captain Conan is a 1996 film dir. Bertrand Tavernier that I'll recommend. Conan is a captain of French 'irregulars' in WWI- rough guys. He gets paired with a bookish lieutenant who is useless on the battlefield but turns out to be pretty handy outside of it. At the end of the movie WWI is over and Conan is in a French prison camp that gets attacked by the Russians. And when I saw the movie originally, I had a real WTF? moment- no idea what that was about. But in light of your Polar Bear Expedition series- is this the same time period? Would a French person understand the history that my American brain never had heard of? Would you consider a series on the Russian Revolution?

What is youre favourite military Vehicle/other invesment. That , at the time was a MUST HAVE. And turned out to be a compelete waste of money. Personal favourite: Finnish produced hovercraft TUULI. Finnish Navy HAD TO HAVE IT! Ordered in 1999, was ready and put in use in 2002. Taken out of use the next year. ( Unsure how many hours they actually drove the thing ) The 3 others that were ordered, were emediatly stopped from getting built. Constant maintenance. ( not beeing used ) Went for sale, no one wanted it. Scrapped 2014. It cost 16 miljon Euros. YAY!
