The new Lord of the Rings series was pretty good.
If anyone is curious, the first spear was the man at the rightmost position in the first line of a maniple, and was the person the entire formation was then built around. It was the position of the senior centurion for the maniple, thus making Virenus basically the sergeant major of the legion.
New to the Paetron, didn't realize these were about pretty much my favorite show ever! Very thrilled. And yes, Pullo is basically the ur-E4.

Rome is one of my favorite shows, I really liked this podcast episode and I hope yall do the whole series. Also, thats a top 5 episode title.
One of the best HBO shows cut down in it's prime because of the low budget and before-its-timeness
salve brothers edit: as to vorenus's rank, centurions were junior officers - promoted from the ranks - responsible for about 80 men, ranked in order of which cohort they led. he's later made prefect, which is like a kind of staff colonel.
Yeah I meant junior in the sense of his responsibilities (and class status within Roman society) not his service time, but you're right, it's not a clean comparison anyway.
