BONUS: The Soviet Axe Berserkers of WWII

The original berserkers ate a special mushroom to reach their rage state, I learned about it in school. I know what it's called in my language "flugsvamp." But when i tried to translate it, it had many names for some reason: Toad stool/death cap/amanita/fly agaric, just to name a few. I don't know if any one of them is more appropriate then another. But it was a mushroom that did it, nonetheless.

Re: Ivan knowing German - I think there’s been quite a historic trend of German-speaking people emigrating across eastern Europe and basically taking over the larger towns and cities (I think it dates back as far as the 13th century… and before that there were the Teutonic Knights). I imagine anyone who’d travelled around looking for work, as Ivan and his family definitely had, they’d pick up a pretty good grasp of German.
