Part 2????
Sorry was high and thought early episode meant an episode from the early days
hey German listener here I really love this episode cause it's teaching me a lot more than my history class in a public school To the Namibian genocide; like 3 months ago the German parliament finally recognised the shit they did against the herero, nama and many more as a genocide and apologised
https://www.deutschlandfunk.de/verbrechen-an-herero-und-nama-als-voelkermord-anerkannt-das.694.de.html?dram:article_id=497955 Here a source from a renowned news/radio outlet about the recognition of the genocide there they also mention that Germany is planning on paying 1,1 billion euros as reparations to the decendents of the victims
Piling onto the Pancho Villa is known as a folk hero thing. Source: SoCal public school
Otto von Bismarck could make a good subject for an episode. Also can confirm the weird German names not just in center Texas, but in southeast Texas in Houston as well.
Been listening to this show for a year but only recently became patron. I am from Mexico(northern border with Texas) so I can confirm Pancho Villa status as a folk hero.
Concerning those anti-Chinese pogroms during the Mexican Revolution, check out Wikipedia’s entry on the “Torreón Massacre”, which took place 13-15 May 1911, following the official end of the Siege of Torreón. The degree to which Villa and/or his forces were culpable isn’t quite as clear-cut, but then again, I’m no expert when it comes to Torreón history….
Jesus Christ Hermann Goerings dad was doing exactly what Snidely fucking Whiplash was doing in the Dudley Doright movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣 A literal moustache twirling villain.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembered that plot point.
Get the animal facts ready we're going to need it.
Tanning room 😬
Wait, the German Empire was actually...bad? Thats not what Kyle who always showed up to my grade 11 History class with a Sabaton shirt said.
