No shade to Graves Blanchard Erskine, but I don’t know if any name alert will ever beat Woodthorpe Charlesclark I need him to become a recurring character in the LBD mythos
Ok, here's the real question: Is Joe the origin of the knife wielding roomba meme?
A note for those interested: the book Joe mentioned "Twilight of the Gods" is the third in Ian Toll's Pacific War Trilogy that covers 1944-45 cause googling Twilight of the Gods brings up an animated show lol.
Throw your Marines in the air 45 ft like you just don't care.
"I am the voice of Iwo Jima and I'm full of Japanese men" fucking killed me
Nate joked about Tom sounding like sulfur itself, but inhaling small quantities of sulfur hexafluoride produces vocal effects similar to Tom's voice changer button. It's because sulfur hexafluoride is much denser than air, thus affecting the vocal resonance frequency.
Replace Gorka Morka with Dan Daly & Chesty Puller and you're right about Marines
I remember watching Letters from Iwo Jima when I was like 10 and it made me cry my eyes out. Like in legitimate sadness. Such a good movie.
To be fair, they don’t let tourists on the island because it’s packed with landmines and all sorts of goodies.
Tbf if one of my sailors gave me your response to arming the roomba they would still be in trouble (though not much), but only after I stopped laughing.
I'm so glad you covered how pointless the battle ultimately was.
Marine listening: gorka morka
This is the funniest questions from the legion story yet
didn’t realize how effective tactical nudity would be in training lmfao
They made a movie where they bring the horse to Iwo Jima it's called letters from Iwo jima
The beginning of the episode hits a little close to home. My grandfather was on the Saratoga during this battle. He survives, but it was close from what I remember.
I mean we marines also ride around in shit that’s falling apart that if we believe hard it will and it does. So yeah. Orks are a fitting analogy.
Every navy has to regularly prune its bases and ships to make sure something like a marine corps isn't sprouting. If you don't get the infection in the early stages, before you know it half your youth-manpower pool is doing pushups and eating crayons instead of doing something gay like being good enough at math to maintain a jet engine
I had a grand uncle on Iwo, and I approve of the fart jokes.
Joe: "I'm the reason they made a rule against this."
I swear there was a scene in letters from Iwo Jima where Nishi’s horse was wounded on Iwo.
You know what else burns? Highlands. Pre order joes book.
You created Sir Stabby
Grunt n crunch - newest lifting class by Joe K 😆
Another day, another goop cube
A horrible pointless battle... lord on high arent they all?
The one thing that could have made this more exciting is if the volcano had erupted during the battle.
Look I think the US Army is underestimating the benefits of tactical nudity
did Tom go to university in the opening scene of Moulin Rouge?
In The Army Now (WW) 2. Instead of Andy Dick it's Jay Baruchel.
Please let Tom use the voice changer more. It is amazing
Marine listening here....yeah...yeah it do be like that
omg my grandpa was the fart joker
one of his favorite lines was "a farting horse will never tire and a farting man is the one to hire" he had insane PTSD
You could absolutely convince a shitton of Marines that red wunz do indeed go fasta.
A marine gets shot and him and the guy behind him justbecome projectiles as they hit lightspeed
Crab stabbing Roomba.
I'm gonna need a link to that Vietnamese tour guide getting yelled at.
I haven't got to that part yet, but please confirm if this is related to dannyboy shouting at a vietnamese tour guide for doing a vaguely london accent.
There are some interesting parallels between this battle and Hue.
Grunt and crunch is what you do when you eat too much dairy and not enough fiber
If any of y'all want a war nerd to yap about carrier doctrine at the time, or how and why army doctrine was different from marines, say so here and I'll keep my yapping contained to this section
I actually would love to know more
Fart Island 3: Gaiden
