BONUS: Lions Led By Robots 14: Horse Gundam (Real)
Episodes 38-42 of G Gundam involve a horse being made to pilot a gundam. Is this animal abuse? Which country does the horse represent?

*GunBuster GunBuster GunBuster* It's a six episode OVA. Maybe invite WoolieVersus to make SuperEyepathWolf jealous.
Would love to see you guys do Gurren Lagann
More Natasha respecters
Evangelion and blue gender each have 26 episodes, not short but not super long either.
Oof, I think an exception an be made for Gundam Wing because it is awesome and also it single-handedly made Gundam mainstream in the US. The funny bit related to G-Gundam was how G-Gundam was made before Gundam Wing but they went with Gundam Wing in the US first. When Gundam Wing did so well the network wanted more Gundam so they took G-Gundam haha. Such a confusing transition when they started airing G-Gundam.
So, maybe a good intro to Gundam, and the Universal Century, though a real mixed bag, the Compilation Movies for the OG Gundam. They compress 13ish episodes into films just over 2 hours long. They could also be good future episodes of Lions Led by Robots. The Dub, at least for the first one is so bad. It’s full 90s, and just incoherent a lot of the time. Also, lots of slapping. They are a bugger to get hold of dubbed, but the subbed films are on Netflix (UK). But the dubbing is magnificently bad in places
I really love and respect all of this, but is there some kind of a beginner course or Gundam 101 one that I can check out so I can truly appreciate this?
That's a little tough because there are a few different Gundam universes. Universal Century is the original timeline, After Colony timeline is the Gundam Wing universe, Cosmic Era is the Gundam SEED universe, and there are a few more but these are the ones I remember. Each universe is its own thing. G Gundam is the easiest since it isn't tied to the other timelines.
Texhnolyze is cyborgs not robots but only 22 episodes and fantastic, imo
Could do Big O
I have the intro stuck in my head now.
Tengen Toppa Guren Lagan is good robot anime although a bit more than 12 eps
I mean, FLCL is only six episodes and it does technically have a robot. Also as Nate points out in a completely unrelated context "the pillows whip"
Hey Joe long time listener and first time commenter.....my name is Russell marinelli I work with a group called indivisible Hill country that lives in a congressional district of a gentleman named Henry cuellar, the reason im hoping this name will be relavant to you is Mr cuellar is being investigated for accepting money from undeclared agents of the azerbaijani government and I was wondering if you could send me specific links or files to your podcast episodes that you've done about the situation in nagorno karrabahk so that I could forward this information to my group as well as maybe a 5-minute video from you explaining the devastation that happened when the azaris took over the nagorno karabak region last year?? if so please contact me at crazycracker119@gmail.com... Thank you in advance for any potential help you may be willing to give
You know you can just look it up right? Also, capitalization and commas exist. Very Nigerian Prince vibe here.
My vote for next series is 100% Cyborg 009 for weird nostalgia reasons
The horse is named Glitterhoof thank you.
You guys have to do Girls und Panzer next.
12 episode mecha, and... have fun with the name: "Brave Bang Bravern!"
i know you guys are flooded with recommendations, but my favorite Gundam series is Ironblood Orphans. It followed the rise and fall of a PMC of child soldiers. Lions lead by Donkeys basically sums up the series.
There are no robots in it, but way back when you did the Master and Commander bonus episode, Tom promised to make Joe watch The Terror. Will that ever happen?
Gundam 00 season one is really good!
Yall should watch Pluto. It's a modernized version of Astroboy that's 12 episodes long. Really good.
Y'all should watch Gurren Lagann, 27 episodes with big robots and spirals
Tom you can't just drop LotGH on me like that
The Feddie Scum Gundam RPG podcast did G Gundam season focused on The American Preliminaries, In which one of the best jokes was Florida's Gundam pilot, who was just a wild Alligator they trapped in the cockpit
If you are looking for short anime after G Gundam, I recommend Project A-Ko, it's a movie so it will be less of a time commitment than a series. A short series you could consider is Giant Robo, The Day the Earth Stood Still, same director as G Gundam. There is also Sound of the Sky, which is cute girls do cute things in the military after the apocalypse.
Full Metal Panic! Was actually a special kinda bad...I read the manga in HS and thought it was awesome...recently watched it and was like...erm ok..kinda terrible...but ill try...if yinz wanna suffer with me its all good. Muv luv alt total eclipse is also...we its definately something...their "fan service" eps are...let us say rather questionable. But on the so terrible its somehow fucking great scale, G-gundam is top dog in my opinion and I have the DVD box set....I kept thinking..hey, maybe i should ship this to Joe...but I excel at procrastination
Gundam Requiem for Vengeance on Netflix is interesting just cause you get to see just HOW much of a monster a gundam is compared to regular MS suit.
horce
hoarse
There's shorter Gundams too. You guys could do OVA's like 8th MS team and stardust memory and squeeze them into an episode or two each. And yes I say that because they're some of my favorites and 8th us literall Gundam Vietnam war and stardust is metal gear Gundam where the antagonist as reals a nuclear armed Gundam. You guys would make some incredible episodes on them
8th ms team is my all time fave, had the dvd box set on me for most of my time in the Corps.
I feel like now's a good time to rep toxicologist and former bodybuilder/powerlifter ChubbyEmu and his side-channel, Heme Review. He covers a wide variety of topics, but he makes an effort to bring up some of the really unhealthy practices often pushed by coaches or internalized extreme body dysphoria on competitors. His most recent video is case studies on the abuse of Diuretics in bodybuilding.
Do gurren lagann!!
Also never question G Gundam. I watched it on the first US airing and knew immediately "I'm here for a fun time not a logical time"
Interviews with the OG Gundam creator, Tomino, are also really funny. He described the naming convention of Zen mobile suits in the original as "largely a form of harassment" because the studio never told him no on an of it so you get bangers like Gogg, Gelgoog, Zock, Acguy etc
(Real) really makes the title
As someone who's never watched a single minute of G-Gundam, i find it wild that Joe would consider it cheating that a bird gundam can fly. Like i just assumed all of them did?
A special breed of Gundam. We call them...the Hay Team. I pity tha foal.
Fuck yes. I've been waiting for them to reach this point ever since Joe started wo during if there was an actual horse in yhe gundam!
If you’re looking for a shorter Gundam series, I’d highly recommend the 08th MS team. It’s only 12 episodes (and a movie, but it’s most recap). It sets out to tell the story of a unit of grunt pilots doing guerrilla warfare but with mobile suits in South East Asia. The director, Takeyuki Kanda, died suddenly half way through, and Umanosuke Iida stepped in, completely dropping their “Vietnam War, with Gundams” narrative to make it a shallow (even by anime standards) Romeo and Juliet story. Despite the mid season tonal shift, it does have some of the better fight scenes of the series in my opinion.
Dancouga Nova – Super God Beast Armor. It's only 12 episodes, and if I remember right it is terrible lol
People who hate this series are cucks and low-T betas (i have no idea what those mean).
The Anti-Kassabian Gundam
🎠
The Equestria gundam
Before I listen, I'm hoping for a Mr. Hands Gundam.
We dont speak of Cle Elum gundam....it is forbidden...the neo-washington state highway patrol shoots ppl on site for even its mere mention
Counterpoint: I eagerly await this series and see it as a highlight of my subscription.
Same.
I forget this series exists sometimes
