Stranded in the mountains of Afghanistan, 21 Sikh soldiers face off against thousands of Afghan tribesmen. Hamstrung by British military racism and some of the dumbest battle plans the brits could come up with, they fight till the last.

Yeah, go team fluffy slippers!
Home sick from work. Thanks for making me laugh and also for doing another episode on the Great Game!
Holmes making the Kandahar Giants as a volunteer force lol
So.. Afghanistan is like a rust server but less toxic and everyone has the most elaborate item skins possible. Wait this connects to the victor bout episode where they were shooting at random people from a helicopter
I just need Nate's "I saw truck decals you wouldn't believe, I saw 7 people on a motorcycle" bit synced to the Tears In Rain monologue from Bladerunner
Commenting before I watch: if you screw something up in this one Joe, both the Khalistani separatists and the Indian government will be gunning for you. All the best!
Nate needs to know that he says "Super Saiyan" correctly according to the Japanese pronunciation.
nobody tell him
i almost expected Tom to pop in randomly when the Irish were mentioned with a " yeah baby right back to the Irish" or Nate to just edit it in
Hearing Joe learn about the sotadic zone was incredible 🤣
You guys keep joking about military druids PLAY TACTICAL BREACH WIZARDS that game fucking slaps
Shadow Wizard Money Gang coming right at ya!
You want a military druid. They can cast Entangle and fuck up infantry and cavalry formatons. Just place archers with them to arrow storm the immobilized enemy.
An attack on turn based battle game called “Fuck Up Infantry and Cavalry Formation” would go insanely hard!
What's up with the Iraq references to Afghani tribesman? Did I miss something?
Fun note Nate, the T in T-Pain actually stands for Tallahassee. Which is where I go to watch my Noles get there teeth kicked every Saturday.
Holmes heard "white man's burden" and thought it was a workout routine
LLBS Merch not to be confused with LL Bean
Afghans were doing CS:GO skins before computers were a thing
I laughed so hard at this my wife thought I was having a mental breakdown
I'm just here listening to the military druid talk and wondering what edition of D&D you grew up with.
The Kandahar edition obviously
I've always found it funny how despite T-Pain's musical persona and videos he's been a committed husband and dad since he was 19.
Druids? Real mystery there...
Oh god not that game
If anyone gets the itch to “paki tape” wrap your AK check out KhyberPass Customs on IG or YouTube. He’s a very nice guy in KPK.
I looked for tape in the pride colors once but unfortunately there aren't that many colors out there. Might use some for a cheekrest one day
Dutch was actually pretty widely taught in Indonesia (especially in the early 20th century) but Bahasa Indonesia is literally one of the main ways Sukarno bound the 1000s of islands together. Notice how Suriname still speaks Dutch till this very day. But people from my grandma’s generation still learned Dutch in schools in Indonesia
That’s one of the reasons why Indonesian is one of the simplest languages in the world. As someone who speaks a few other way more complicated languages, including Russian, I’m amazed at all the stuff you don’t do in it. But that’s also on purpose, because as I understand it the idea is that you then supplement it with whatever your local language is, or at worst it’s that very simple lingua franca.
Yalls new intro music has big anime intro vibes
“The VA has determined getting shot in the hand with a bedazzled arrow in Afghanistan is not service connected.”
Haven't listened to it yet but going off the description it could describe any British battle in Afghanistan between the 1830s and the 2010s
That eventbrite link doesn't work for me at least.
It should now
the episode mentioned at 12:15 is episode 7 - Retreat from Kabul
The thing with Afghan soldiers putting stickers on their rifles was explained to me as “they can’t read any language, including the numbers on this, so this is how they do rifle inventory”. Which raised the fun idea of the one honest Afghan armory soldier yelling about where the one with the Care Bears had gotten to and why Mahmoud didn’t have the one with the My Little Ponies on it any more.
I heard the reasoning behind the decorations being “I can pick my AK out of that pile of 20 other AKs” but also personal flair like with jingle trucks
Hindutva nationalists love using this battle as an example of Indian heroism against Muslim hordes, kind of ignoring that these soldiers were fighting for the British empire. Thanks (as someone of Afghan descent) for not ignoring that fact
I imagine they also leave out that the soldiers were Sihk?
I would honestly buy a LLBD Bingo Game Card and use it while I listen to the live show.
I can imagine an Afghani version of Nick who is offered boots and all he says is “don’t need it”
Minor but Afgahni is the currency, Afgahn is the term for something from Afghanistan
First ha! I got nothing besides the gloating.
Yuh
