Wasn't expecting to catch so many strays in the first 15 minutes
I expected it would have been U-1206, considering it sank due to a toilet issue.
I work at a gym and I see dawgs out way more often than I ever thought I would, and as someone who cleans said floors you couldn’t pay me to go barefoot
All of the Scientology chatter would have been improved if Robert Evans had been a guest. He would be in his element.
EMBRACE TRADITION, REJECT MODERNITY!!!!
Hey! I earned bread and water jail in the Navy!
Zoo Crew episodes are my favorite part of the show. I love anything you guys do together. :)
Can confirm. Spent 6 months living on board while ship was in refit. It sucked. Had to wear hard hats and ppe between showers and mess deck
Suggestion: the v-22 osprey should be used as a crematorium, pack dead bodies into them, and drop them into active volcanoes
Hey y'all, the event Brite link for the stream tickets isn't working for me, is there another link?
Hey this one should work here! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/livestream-lions-led-by-donkeys-live-in-belfast-tickets-1008166803047?aff=oddtdtcreator&keep_tld=1
Great episode. An idea for a new series in the future given the recent news: the Lebanese Civil War. It’s a super murky period with everybody being an asshole from the local communities up to the international powers
I'm reminded of the Operation Pastorius episode where the u-boat that dropped the spies off got stuck in shallow water and was audibly revving its engines
All of you are on top form here. I love an underwater death tube episode. I recently read a horror novel about a sunken uboat in the Caribbean that came back up, but was full of nazi zombies because of course it was.
In the army, corporal punishment is when they make you a corporal
As a Fear and Hunger guy, all I could think during the opening riff was "podcast marriage"
North Carolina! We had the British bomb a couple U-boats and uhhhhhhh fuckin... I guess they probably had to squat the escort ship because that's a fuckin thing here
I listened to this in a 2000 model year Camry with front and rear number dents and an inline four-banger. Can confirm, great car. I’m gonna drive it until the seats fall through the floor pan
Off topic but any chance you guys will cover the Cristero war? it is an odd and undercovered period of Mexican history. Like the crusades it will bring out a certain kind of Catholics… but most don’t know that Mexico for a time endorsed State-Atheism stronger than the Soviets. https://youtu.be/LNzX5UbbO7I?si=COiTGXaDyZBpI4KG
The KKK hated the Catholics so much that they ignored the atheism and their own racism!?
Just watched a documentary about the mongol invasion of Poland. Duke Henry’s army got absolutely bodied and the Mongols cut off his head and paraded around the city. The Duke’s wife only recognized his mangled corpse because he had eleven toes.
I have a framed picture of "the ghost fleet of the outer banks". U-352 is conspicuous in the bottm left corner.
The cursed Axe Body Spray scent I imagine would be called. “40 days out at sea in a U-Boat” For Men. Also if you guys ever do a live tour in the USA. I definitely pay and travel to come see ya in Georgia or Florida. Can’t wait to see the livestream in October.
The main takeaway that I get from every U Boat episode is “I know it smell crazy in there”
Historians finding all of your guys bodies in the bunk together would say, "And they were roommates."
The nut that holds the rotor to the helicopter is known as the "Jesus Nutz' according to helicopter crews I have known. That's 'cause that's all you will have time to say if it fails
Hey Joe, since you live in the Netherlands now (and in The Hague) when are we getting a series about the Indonesian war for independence. It’s somehow the most forgotten war of them all and it started literally while WW2 was still going on and lasted till 1949. It has anything a series like LLBD needs, war crimes, large scale city battles, interesting characters, the Dutch being assholes.
Is it just me, or does this intro song just friggin slap?
I love this intro song!
Hell yeah, stupid boats
That’s just boats
Much like the Detroit Lions, U-Boat crews were choking from oxygen depravation just like Jared Goff choking in Ford Field.
„a boat usually floats“ Meanwhile the pride of the Swedish navy in 1628: „oh no, we’re sinking and not even made it outside the bay!“ The 30 years war could be a good series btw;)
Hanging with my homies sealed inside a gas canister currently sinking only the correct amount
