During the US Civil War soldiers found inventive, dangerous, and all around stupid ways to get drunk. We salute them.

Hate to be THAT German, but "Schlacht" just means Battle in German. Nate is confusing it with the verb "abschlachten" which does in fact mean to slaughter.
Ah, the Faderade 😂
Moonshine only makes you go blind if it's contaminated with something, either intentionally or otherwise. Still if you have no idea what you're doing and no idea what's in your ingredients it's a baaaaaad idea
Holy shit I had a flash back to being a shitty dumbass kid that read Tucker max and he talked about going to something with a CamelBak with “Tucker Death Mix”[Everclear, Red Bull and Gatorade].
Woaaaah now you flashed me back to the same
Bag of 'goo' or bag of 'goon'? I believe you are referring to the Aussie delicacy known as a 'goon-bag' , which becomes 'boxed wine' when you reach an age that you're again as poor as you were at age 18 :') can't wait
My everclear memory doesn't involve a soldier, but a soldier's kid. He was a coworker of ours and it was the first time we had him at a party. He was eighteen or nineteen and it was Alaska so nobody thought he didn't know what he was doing. I wasn't paying too much attention and someone grabbed me to tell me he was TOO DRUNK. We figured out that he was topping off his drink with everclear every time he got half done and he was blitzed. No big deal right? Getting too drunk is basically a rite of passage for a young USian. He could just sleep it off. Except then he tells us he's expected back on base. Thankfully our boss's husband was a soldier and helped us out but it wasn't my favorite night trying to figure out how to get an underaged master sgts son back on base without problems.
I listened to the Rwanda episodes all in one go during Milton. (Fun!) This episode was a much needed palate cleanser after all that. Plus my power finally came on, so everything is coming up Milhouse.
12:15 when I was a kid (born 94) my divorced alcoholic in and out cop dad had a Toyota Tacoma cerca 2003/4ish? And one day I asked him why he had a “3” with wings sticker on the back of his truck window. He said oh some nascar guy died and a random stranger or coworker put that on my car and I didn’t bother to remove it. But because the guy was so famous random guys will thumbs up or salute me when they see it. He found it very funny and never took it off. My dad was an Iraq veteran and a cop. Republican but not enough to really care about shit. He married my liberal mom after all before divorcing her for a young lady my mom nicknamed “Trasha”. Regardless I always found it funny that neither of us gave a shit about nascar but yet would draw attention on occasion in rural counties around Little Rock Arkansas. People REALLY cared about him. I swear some old redneck told my dad his death was this guys second 9/11. It was hilarious.
the episode for operation nemesis is #101, for anyone else who wants to listen to it~
Such a good episode
Hate it when gargoyles come to the gym and perch on the weight bench with their bare, dusty toes
Joe, in the biotech industry we basically use Everclear 140 to sterilize work surfaces. That said I don't think I've ever heard of people drinking it even though there's no denaturing agents. Maybe the constant remind of what alcohol does to living things helps with that
I love putting my feet up to do bench press
Just get wrestling shoes!
that's right
Some civil war grunts on guard duty : https://youtu.be/W9accPzZufk?t=33
Loved getting to listen to an hour and a half of Joe saying “all-kill-haul”
How about an episode on the West Point Egg Nog Riot to kind of keep the theme of drunken shenanigans.
That is coming in december!
This really is the kind of fun episode that’s needed in between the nightmare fuel of the Rwandan genocide series.
I've done the everclear Gatorade camelback trick but you need to add the 8.4 oz red bull. Good for field day evening activities
"Jorkin' It" sounds like something Coach Z would say and I hate that that concept is now in my brain.
And I hate that you shared that with me
Cabbage alcohol is just jilly juice
My god i haven't heard that name is so long
Toe shoes anyone else?
Is it just me or does the theme song sound like something Corey Feldman should be marionette puppet pop-and-locking to. Don’t kill me I like it, just saying…
Regarding movies about historical, colonial tragedies, I unfortunately think that Killers of the Flower Moon by Scorsese was a kind of misstep on what should've been a rather good story in this genre. My biggest problem with it is that Leonardo Di Caprio as Ernest Burkart is ostensibly the main character, and he ends up getting weird moments of sympathy despite being literally involved in multiple murders, and largely of his wife's family, no less! The main character really should've been Mollie Burkhart, played by Lily Gladstone. She was actually the POV for a lot of the book that the movie is based on (when it wasn't focused on the FBI stuff) and it really sucks that this wasn't also the case in the film, considering that she is absolutely the sympathetic and compelling character in the whole situation.
Strychnine as a pre-work out is just Tren when Tren decides to get straight to the point
Raise Hell, Praise Dale
This is hilarious and very much needed during the current series. Also, I'm recommending La Otra Conquista (The Other Conquest) as a film about the Spanish colonizers' conversion of indigenous Americans, specifically Mixteca, to Catholicism by following the story of Moctezuma's illegitimate son and how he ends up a Catholic monk. Its an old movie, but there really aren't many (or any other) films that so clearly lay out how the Spanish killed indigenous cultures and religions in Mexico and created the current Mexican mythology (like Juan Diego and the Virgen de Guadalupe).
Tried Old Soldier Whiskey the other day since it has a cannon on the bottle and I’m a sucker for fun branding, advertised as a traditional American whiskey based on a civil war era recipe - definitely tasted like some of the mix ups described
Eric Bogosian is on one of the best TV shows airing in the US right now. If his showing old man hole leads to his screenplay for Operation Nemesis getting the green light that would certainly be something.
A civil war of drunks = every civil war.
What I’m hearing here is that those distilleries that sell glass shotgun-shaped bottles full of whiskey or tequila are really doing an homage to the Union army.
I thought that the intro was a reference to a b-movie called Street trash
Pre-kids I went to a Muay Thai gym by work. Great place, lots of classes with great instructors. Super clean. Got into kettlebells and lifting. Everyone was dogs out the entire time. Only people with shoes on were newbies.
“Born to Jorkin’ it, cursed to piss” on a punisher skull T-Shirt would be a great idea. Also who knew the Dutch had their own BigFoot? What a rich cultural history.
Surely it would be "jork it", though?
Travis AFB amputates limbs by accident every ten years or so
Hey minor correction, most civil War soldiers were actually surprisingly literate.
Can you put in the notes when you stop talking about feet and squats?
Forgetting grogs key ingredient a squeeze of lime juice so you don’t have to beat your sailors into having vitamin c
At least Nate didn’t get muppet voice like Roz did
So I went to school in the town where Bam and Duhn (and a few others) from Jackass where from. You see a lot of the town in old jackass and cky videos. I lived in town after Duhn had already died. Bam would show up at a bar I frequented (sometimes with his lambo) on occasion when he wasn't sober. I can't imagine living there during the hey day of cky and jackass though.
Even Australians who are allergic to shoes will wear shoes at the gym
Dutch gym cryptid is my new sleep paralysis demon
You need to get in contact with Rusty Quill Productions and get Johnathon Sims to read that intro. Because honestly it sounds like something generated by the Entities that the Magnus Institute deals with.
Thank god an intermission from the main episodes (they're really good but they do not make good early morning dog walking content)
