Alvin York started WWI as a conscientious objector and finished it as a bloodthirsty demon built for war.

If you want to come to a gas station, I work at a small one in a rural community with one stop light. We have hunts brothers pizza, tornados, and hot sandwiches Tues-Fri!
brb, sending an entire shipping container full of buc-ee's snacks to london specifically to thank tom for the southern skyrim revival preacher bits
First of all I'd like to say that I really enjoyed your podcast the first couple years until Tom. Him and his stupid southern accent trying to impersonate Alvin York was nothing close to funny. This went on for an hour it was pure torture.I'm pretty close to calling it quits with this podcast.
Ok
Alvin York was secretly the world's first STRC unit
Until this episode I didn't know why a road by me is called Alvin York or why the VA hospital my dad goes to is called Alvin C York.
The Elder Scrolls race is actually the BRETONS, not the Britons. But they also just have the Nordic-inspired people called "Nords", so I'm not going to accuse those writers of being excessively creative when naming things.
Alvin’s dad was for sure making a still for moonshine
The Alvin Scrolls
I’m declaring stolen valor on Joe, solely on the fact that this man didn’t declare his favorite gas station food as white monster and tornados from the Shoppette. WE HAVE AN IMPOSTER.
White Monster: Yes. Tornados: fuck my stomach
I am now convinced that Tom is actually Brother Love from the WWF. Best southern accent from an Irishman.
so what im hearing is that Amtraks better than the German passenger rail
Come to NY. We make the best bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. And we have bagels
Leckie >>> Snafu
Joes alivn accent is just frys grandfather enus from futurama
Ultras aren't necessarily Hooligans. Typically, they are just organized fans.
There's a joke about an Englishman living in Germany. He goes to meet up with his local friend, arriving a minute later than expected. His German friend is freaking out about how unacceptable this is, finally asking how he expects to get a job in Germany with that attitude. The Brit tells his friend that he was actually late because he had just came a successful job interview. "Who in Germany would hire someone like you?" "Well I turned up 15 minutes late and they just hired me on the spot!" Says the Brit, proudly presenting his new DB Rail uniform.
So this farm full of twinks, where might one find it?
Can someone tell me why the best character in The Pacific is Rami Malek's? Joe... Joe.....
Highest Grossing Movie of 1941: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergeant_York_(film)
They named a state after him
The Bretons of the elder scrolls are based off of the Bretons of France who live in Brittany.
Having been borne from the land of Wawa, I did not take Southern gas station food culture seriously until my second date with my soon-to-be-wife. She introduced me to the West Virginia pepperoni roll, which is basically an Italian Cornish pasty and it’s either gorgeous and perfect or horrifying slop, sometimes on the same stretch of highway. To say nothing of Jake’s Country Sausage here in Kentucky. When I tell you we religiously keep gas station sausage in the house I am not kidding.
WaWa is the superior choice for gas station food. Their Ruben is amazing.
The chaplain comment might be one of the most ominous things I’ve heard Joe say
Tom's Southern yokel is perfect.
Joe is just describing a normal day on TriMet
I went on my honeymoon in Germany last year, and as an American, I thought the trains were rad. Apparently, I am just easily impressed... And Colorado has a Bucees now, I vote for a Denver stop on the US tour.
Disturbing developments, Denver has fallen.
In a way, Alvin York was basically just a sneaky archer. Also, unpopular opinion - The Pacific is better than Band of Brothers.
I agree with you on The Pacific v BoB.
WE OUT HERE BUILDIN’ DWEMER AUTOMATONS
TAKE ME HOME MARKARTH ROADS
Quaker here: while the Holiness movement did have a little bit of Quaker influence, the movement (and the Christian Union) originally sprang from Methodism, although Calvinist influences came to dominate the CU and other Holiness denominations. From what I’ve seen York’s church broke away because of its devotion to maintaining Wesleyan (i.e. Methodist) theology. That’s probably why they had a ‘softer’ non-violent theology that didn’t qualify for Conscientious Objector status. Also, the Quaker Oats company is in no way affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends - they stole our name because of Quakers’ reputation as honest business people, then went on to operate munitions factories during World War II. So yeah, fuck those guys.
This is the guy that invented the Peppermint Pattie
One of the better sons of Tennessee
Do Kid Rock next
Tom likes gabber. Has Tom seen Realicide when they toured europe.
Don’t forget FC Locomotive El Paso
Ah yes, the tradition of getting whatever you can at a gas station because you have a 16 hour shift on the ambulance. I like the chili cheese Fritos personally.
How is that legal
I’ve been to and work not too far from the Alvin York state park here in TN and lemme tell ya, it’s a fucking shack lmao But because it’s America there IS a Buc-ee’s like 45 minutes away.
Ok, the Boonta Vista intros are getting better
joe recording the next episode from his bathtub
Tom is just out here flexing accents today
"Blind tiger": an establishment that took advantage of a loophole that allowed the otherwise-prohibited dispensing of alcohol when you are at some kind of show or event. The prototypical "show" was a "blind tiger," a cat with a blindfold on. "I want to see the blind tiger," you might say, and then be served a dram of whiskey with your ticket.

ENTERED THE WAR FROM OVER THE SEA
So you’re telling me these lions were led by donkeys?
I say, if these lions had been led by Alvin York’s Dwemer Automatons, they’d have licked them Germans faster than B.J. Blazkowicz!
