This can’t be the only Red vs Blue reference.
This is the craziest series of events yall have covered
His name was Rube Waddell.
Regarding German leftovers from Tsingtao I don’t know about kids, but I do know that they left a brewery behind and now Tsingtao is the second most globally consumed beer.
The Rube - by The Dollop actually lead me in a way to this podcast 😂 love it
Great episode, this one was a lot of fun. I’d never heard about this story. I am gobsmacked the roach boat part of the story didn’t end in a Raft of the Medusa situation at best.
babe wake up new corpse infrastructure just dropped: load bearing roaches
This sounds a lot like the plot of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin novel "Treason's Harbour."
Joe if you want a cardio sport check out some indoor soccer in your area. It’s a much smaller field (closer to the size of a hockey rink) and it’s much more intense than full field soccer!
Fun fact: last name "von Mücke" translates to "of mosquito"
This reminded me of that greek dude who got stuck in Persia. Dude prolly had a "hang in there poster" tattooed on him for morale
To rollerblade on a Michigan road you need the full Attack on Titan harness to sail over the potholes
It wasn't super uncommon for some of the dyed in the wool Prussian military types to really hate Hitler. If I remember correctly some of the major players of Operation Valkyrie were just that type. A lot of them also disliked Hitler mostly because they saw him as a upstart nobody as opposed to their proud noble lineage.
Though becoming a pacifist and disclaiming militarism and bits like "Germany doesn't deserve a military" were less common.
I will not lie. My subscription had expired and I was debating on renewing it. I did hoping for a good episode and this right here!!! I will forever subscribe to your channel! I laughed so damn hard I almost spat my beer out all over my dog Cleo by accident. I never saw the anti fascist ark coming. Totally surprised me.
Ironic that the Greek captain switched teams at the Malaka straights.
Imagine this but there is a Kanonenfieber song in the background. In that case a very German band. So imagine this is happening and to the side shouting re-enacters with instruments.
Please do an interview with the Gaius Shoutius actor. He’s actually been in several military history movies/shows
I played state level Field Hockey and fkn loved it! But a lot of that was coz my build and skills made me a perfect goalie. While everyone else has just shin pads the goalie gets full body armour. Being a 6'1 teen and build like a brick shithouse I feared nothing 😈
Gaius Shoutius strapped to the prow of a ship as a hood ornament 😆
Maybe it’s just me. But I already give you guys money every month, so why does every episode still starts with an Patreon add. Seems easy to edit that first part out for the Patreon subscribers. Great episode though
You really want him to record two versions of every episode to 30 seconds of advertisement
A very long time ago (25 years or so) I visited the Australian War Memorial repository for work. The person I was working with took me to the tea room for morning tea, and there, just above the notice board with union notices and flyers for kittens being given away, was the crest of the Emden.
Isn’t Dracula at least partially about being stuck on a boat (with a vampire)?
One chapter of it, yeah. That chapter got adapted into a film last year called, "Last Voyage of the Demeter" (which I haven't seen).
man imagine being one of those deep see isopod guys trying a cockroach for the first time
Roachtisserie
“No one should have to pay for a billionaires stadium” Exactly what people are trying to do in KC Missouri.
Fucked up boat stories are my absolute favorite subgenre of LLBD episode, thank you Joe
I don't know why it's funny when official records list you as having a drinking problem, but it is. It's like a Soviet dossier mentioning your drinking. Like how much do you need to drink to raise their eyebrows?
Growing up in New England so weird because as a kid winters were insane and now they are barely existent and our summers are like NJ summers. Totally screwed.
Speaking of a different time for sports, find old school videos of the Tour de France. No SAG vehicles, riders had to carry their own replacement tires. They'd also smoke like chimneys and carry wine bottles in their bidons.
Eating only ham and cheese sandwiches and amphetamines they willed themselves up mountains.
I need that track suit
Genuinely one of the funniest episodes the Zoo Crew has been a part of
