Been catching back up on episodes, I have an actual answer to the Mobile Suit/Gundam confusion. Mobile suits are the overall name for the humanoid robots, Gundams are just specific ones. Back in the OG from 1979 Gundam was the name of the specific prototype Mobile Suit that the protagonist pilots and from there fancy mobile suits get called Gundam for in and out of universe marketing reasons. Also there are things called Mobile Armors which are just giant MS that aren't always humanoid
