Tell me your favorite dog breeds!
Well, I've only left myself a few days in July to finish the dog washing game. It's gonna be tight, but I think I can do it! especially since this game will be much smaller that Lani the Merthropologist!
I've decided to call the game Wan-Wan Wash, (wanko being the japanese word for puppy), you'll remember I'm famously bad at naming things but this time I think I've really hit upon something!
I've got the UI and game flow blocked out pretty well, and only just started adding some rudimentary stuff to Gamemaker, hardly anything to show off yet. But here's the beagle I am using for testing out mechanics. On that note, here's how the game works...
players will get to choose one of three blobs with names, after which they will be placed into a room with the blob, who they must wash! washing the blob using soap, sponges, and water will reveal one of a few different breeds. After the dog is revealed, you can dress it up. washing more dogs unlocks more accessories. And that's pretty much the whole game--not at all complex, I think!
On that note, please comment on this post and tell me your favorite dog breeds! Beagles are my favorite kind of dog, but I would like to add some of yours.
My challenge for this game (I always try to do something I haven't done before to get better at programming) will be implementing a simple unlockable inventory system for the accessories, and trying to make a game that is mobile friendly. I've noticed a lot of people who follow me on youtube and instagram see my content about half on their phone and their desktop, so playing my games would be much easier if I made games mobile friendly. I recently learned that you can play gamemaker browser games using your phone without any extra steps, just keeping in mind the control considerations. So I'm excited to see if this makes my games a little more accessible!

i dont even like dogs but this seems like the cutest game ever. i'd be interested in a game of washing or petting animals that try to attack you, though. can't wait to play Lani!

My best friend is a huge dog person, and she's a sucker for irish wolfhounds so I have to suggest that as I'll be showing her the game!! And because I'm really into cryptids, I have to suggest the Xoloitzcuintli, as people used to mistake them for chupacabras when they were dirty or sick (so I think it fits a dog washing game)! I also personally think they look very cute. Also pittie mixes are adorable, they look like land seals <3 Good luck making the game, I love seeing everything you create!!

This is such a cute idea! I love the surprise element that comes with each wash~✨ My dog is a dachshund-Rottweiler mix (he’s gotta big head long body lol) so either of those would be cool. Maybe a Shiba Inu? And if you need more ideas, my sisters like French Bulldogs and Red Poodles!

I'm told when I graduate, I'm allowed a Dachshund, as it is hard to get a Swedish Valhund or a Finnish Laphund in my country and my house is far too small to accomodate a German Shepherd or an Australian shepherd. I'd love to see at least one of these in the game :D For a dog washing game however, I feel Poodles and Afghan Hounds would be perfect, they just give slay fur aura passively. Hope these help you! xx
